Yeah, Yeah, like many others coming back after 3 or 4 years away, just have a question why when i go to POK all the graphics are so choppy, how do i turn things down, have a decent computer

well PoK is ALWAYS crowded so that has something to do with it, also it has to load all those ports to the different zones. Every time i zone into PoK i lag for a minute but after i get going i am usually fine. There are settings you can change to enhace graphics or increase game speed. go to your login screen and click options and mess with those, it will explain what does what and the effects of turning something on or off. hope this helps. oh and welcome back to norrath : )

instant fix:

options/advanced/turn off shaders

ALL of them

then, turn them one again one at a time till you are satisfied.

you can also reduce your "clip" plane.

also can turn off spell "effects" yours, others, and npc

ya need to work out a balance of allt hose that work best with your system. but i tell ya, ya turn off the shaders, and the rest don't realy matter, except for clip.

Welcome back. Plane of Lag is a problem for everyone at one time or another, but there are a few simple things you can do to relieve this. I agree with Keyera with regards to the shading, but there are a few more things you might want to consider. I don't know how much you value the 'eye-candy' of the game, but something that worked for me was to limit the spell effects. In-game, in the options under graphics, I limited the spell effects other visual items to only me+group. This cut out all the buff glitter in POK. How to do this may not have been clear in the other posts. Finally, make sure you visit a web site to update your in-game maps [ http://www.mapfiend.net/ ]and look down while watching the map. Graphics speed is dependant on target view, so if you are not looking at graphics-intensive items (the ground doesn't really do a whole lot), things will go faster for you. Hope this helps you out.

Yes, I agree about it taking a minute once you actually land in PoK to be able to move.

Other tricks:
Turn sky effects off.
Turn off all names but first (this is a biggy for me in pok).
Look down at the ground while moving.
Reduce far clip plane.
Turn off or reduce spell effects.

The best solution is to try and avoid PoK if you can. Smiley: tongue
