yes it is possible and in fact its becomming fairly common. Each class has a different maximum number of aa's because each class has different aa's.

Are we talking about spare AA's or are we talking about AA's that were already spent? Where can I get info on the max number of AA's per class?

You can add them up on you AA screen, I think the number is something like 1200-1400 including the DoDH AAs.

i just looked at eq players and see that the high lvl 70's do max out all aa's, and yes the number depends on which class. but seems you can have all of them just with time

The maximum you may have unspent is 30. (yes, in some refund situations you may have more.. but not in day to day)

The maximum you can spend is class specific, yes. I know some classes are in the 1500s.

But, the maximum *useful* is lower. I do not need "Innate Wis".. or "Innate Int" for that matter, already way over my 415 Cap. I do not need all the 18 point tradeskill Masteries since I do not bake, brew, smith on this character. I do not "need" Dire Charm (but I have it =/). Nor Fearstorm. Nor some other dopey ones.

Basically in the low 1000s I will have nothing constructive to buy (as a necro).. and I have 840 and am earning about 100 a month.

Perfection approaches.

Max you can have unspend is 40! :P
Well its usually 30 but I have 2 in my guild that waited to complete their epic 2.0 until they where maxed in AAs and had 30 banked. Completing Epic 2.0 grants you 10 AAs, so they have 40 banked now waiting to be spend whenever new AAs are released.

If you do go to eq rankings keep in mind that those near/at the top in AA's do have "extras" set aside for future expansions. I know a warrior who has every widget the make, and still has about 2 dozen set aside. We'll see what PoR offers.

Unfortunately I do not have to worry about excess AA's yet.

As a general rule, most people just get six or eight points for the first set once they get to 50 and then get to 61 a.s.a.p. I only picked up run 3 and regen 3 as a Monk, then shot to 61. ("shot" is actually too strong a word, ambled perhaps)Also keep in mind that you'll get all your "free" flag AA's as a matter of course just by normal playing in the PoP zones.

Except PRo isn't going to have AAs so those saving up are for naught. The expansion will be much like DoN was.

Your first 300 AA points will be spent on the "must-have" abilities. If you go to hard core raiding guild websites and look at thier requirements for recruiting, you'll get an idea of the "must-have" abilities.

301-600 will be spent on those AA that will really set you apart from other people in terms of what you can do. When compared to someone with equal gear but fewer AA, you'll really make a difference with these.

601-1000 will get you the rest of the AA that have soem usefulness.

1001 and up will get you the AAs that really have little value in the game. This is when a warrior will start maxing out INT. Packrat 3 looks good even though you never even come close to being encumbered.
