I heard a rumor that the Griffon MM in West Commonlands is bugged. Can anyone confirm or disprove?

I can't confirm or deny it's bugged. But when I tried this MM a month ago or so, I had problems with it. I simply couldn't find all the eggs.
It seemed to me that there was a problem with the eggs spawning randomly. It took me an hour to find an egg, then when I walked over it, apparently it was 4 stacked on top of each other. Ran around the zone for another hour and was unable to find any more eggs. /shrug
I don't know if you saw the other thread concerning this mission that someone posted recently. But it seems they didn't have any problems completing the mission objectives. They were unsure of how the xp shards work was all. Link here:

I did this mission a couple of days back and can say that it was not bugged.
There are a few tricks though to this mission
1- most of the time only 2 eggs will spawn at the same time so you need to keep looking
2- NPCs will pick up eggs too keep an eye on the /ooc - /shout and you will see them announce they have an egg. In this case kill the NPC to loot the egg (not always on corpse but your mission should update)
3- keep an eye out for "groups" of NPCs such as "orc gatherer" and ".... skellies" (can't remember their name now) an egg will spawn close to them
4- red mobs (griffon, kodiak, snake) will sit on or close to an egg
5- few locations where I find eggs on each run: close to the FP side inns (forgot nr of inn now) close to entrance to Adventure camp tunnel on the sand (either to left or right of there ) close to undead ruins, on sand before FP zone.
6- it takes approx. the time to fly towards advent camp tunnel and then to the FP zone line sand for the first egg to spawn.
Don't take above points though as rule, I may read the signs wrong but this is what I work with and so far I have not yet failed this one (not even in a group of 4)

When you do these missions which are based in the outside zones like the Commons, does an instance of that zone spawn for you and your group? Or is this mission done in the actual Commons zone without an instance?

It's an instance zone.
I posted the first bug thread on this mission, and even if it is not bugged (but I DO think it is), you may have some problems:
- You may encounter problems "looting" an egg you found (normally, you just have to fly/walk over it). Most of the time, you cannot loot an egg because
a) you have aggro from a mob
b) a mob is guarding the egg
c) just because.
In this case, another group member should try looting it, you pulling away the mob. If that doesn't work, kill the mob first.
- It is very likely that when a "player"-mob has found an egg, other "player"-mobs will group with him, making killing and looting the egg before he zones near to impossible.
- If you are so lucky to find/loot 10 eggs, kill the guard and the merchant, BE SURE THAT NOBODY OF YOUR GROUP /HAILS KATHI BEFORE EACH OF YOU HAS LOOTED A WISDOM SHARD (AND THE ITEM, IF YOU NEED IT) FROM THE DEAD MERCHANT!!!!!!! When Kathi is hailed, only the players who possess a wisdom shard will get exp. Looting the shard after hailing doesn't do anything. This has been /bugreported.
This is not my favourite monster mission. You just need too much luck, success doesn't depend too much of player action.
