CNN story on EverQuestFollow

#1 Feb 24 2006 at 3:17 PM Rating: Decent
Hello EverQuest gamers.
I am a producer at CNN and we are doing a story on EverQuest and hardcore EverQuest gamers. I'm looking for people who play all the time, who would rather be playing EverQuest than doing anything else, and consider themselves committed to EverQuest above all else. I'd love to hear about you and your gaming experience. Please email me if you're interested in talking, at (contact removed).
Thank you.

may I ask what sort of slant this story is going to take? Not the ohh such a beat the dead horse about eq addiction is it?

wishes someone would once in awhile come up with something original, like "I met my wife in EQ and now I am cheating on her with someone else I met in EQ" sorta thing.
then we have it all the addiction, lurve and romance and RL fights

Woots!

*grabs some popcorn and sits back*

EDIT: we really should send these peeps over to eqwidows, here they can get all the (supposed) addiction stories they want

I was thinking it's more likely tied to Fan Faire being in Atlanta,

Edit: on second thought, the way the question is phrased, "would rather be playing... more than doing anything else" does raise an eyebrow for me on the question of slant.

Sounds pretty fishy to me. person says shes a producer yet her Screen name is CNNreporter. and biggest thing of all is if they wanted interviews about EQ why not just go to the fan faire and interview there, that has to be easier than sifting through e-mails from here? and why here why not the main EQ forums?

Eh could possibly be very real but im stickin to my guns that its a hoax.

Funny, I thought it was Comrade News Network...

Seriously, I'd like to see a good story about gaming for once myself. How many friends, couples and wedding in real life have occured via EQ (or any other game for that matter)?

may I make a suggestion, please? If you want to get to know us a little better, try the game out and meet some of the people who play. You might be suprised how much of a life we have outside of the game. Feel free to visit the Tribunal server anytime.

She needed a screen name here. CNNreporter was prolly the first thing to come to mind. Would it be more credible is she had used a "fantasy" name like Bloodbath or Braincruncher? Haha!

Secondly, I figure she'd come here because any email exchanges she gets here could be used as a preliminary interview or screening. They coulf then follow up with an "on camera" interview if the person was indeed attending Fan Faire (and if they are as obsessed as her question above asks, surely they would be attending, no?). It's cost effective for them because the "interviewee" will be in the same city, blocks away and they wont have to pay a dime for transportation or a crew to go to travel much further than a few blocks away. Quite smart actually.

It's times like these where I think my degree in televison broadcasting paid off. Now, if it actually paid good money, that'd be even better. =)

AMEN to that. Come into our world for a bit. Meet the peeps who play INGAME. The only way to really understand Smiley: bowdown EQ is to play EQ. Trying to understand it without playing it is like trying to understand sex without having sex, It just doesn't translate wellSmiley: blush.

A quick Google search on , turned up:

traderelf wins a cupie doll for that correct guess! LOL
Can you tell I am a bit bored at work today?

, if you come back to the forum and see these replies I sincerely hope you take them in the correct manner. Why not do a special on the EQ success stories? People who have met in game and become involed in RL. The familes on EQ who play together. It's not alll about how EverCrack runined people's lives. It has done some good in many cases. It can teach the younger layers about economics, how to work as a team, and some great problem solving skills.

Come visit us in game. See our world, talk to us, play a bit.
