CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.Follow

#1 Feb 24 2006 at 4:12 PM Rating: Default
I think we should all join together in a class action law suit (I'm not a lawyer, and am not sure if this would qualify for class action status) and sue SOE. We pay for a WORKING game environment. SOE knowingly releases expansions without properly and completely testing them, only to use the gameplaying public as BETA testers. SOE has KNOWN issues dating back years they chose not to fix. In the law suit we should recieve a portion of our paid subscription price from the dates we have paid our subscription, and compensation for the frustration of spending hours, days, weeks, working a quest that is unsolvable. Also SOE should be forced to PUBLICLY post ALL KNOWN issues relating to broken quests, etc.

ALL I WANT IS A WORKING GAME ENVIRONMENT without having to endure countless patches, and broken/ignored quests. They have been in the business of EQ for almost 7 years now, they should have it right by now.

I seem to remember that SOE protects themselves against this within their TOS.

Besides whats more fun then the rampaging militia in Freeport?

I agree, I am going to sue my College Profs. for teaching me all that useless crap. Hours on end of studying, taking tests, writing papers, etc. and for what? So I can sit in front of a computer all day processing insurance policies and making crap money.

Life's a ***** and then you die bro. Might as well enjoy what you have while you have it.

BTW for those of you that didn't catch it, that was sarcasm.

Doesn't someone threaten a lawsuit after every expansion? The sad part is some of these loonie toons actually take time off a productive job to be the first on after a new expansion.

I bought the boxed expansion and don't even plan to install for another week. After 10 expansions I've finally learned to wait.

What you should do is quit EQ and stop wasting your time and money. There's a PacMan simulation that will run on a cell phone, give that a try.

Ok, So ya caught me. Am I serious about the lawsuit? No, not really, just fed up with the broken stuff SOE keeps pumping out. Are you really happy to be SOE beta testers? I'm not, if I wanted to be a beta tester, I would have signed up for it. Will I keep playing the game? Probably. Am I reaching a level of frustration that is effecting my game play? yes. Did I run out and pre-order POR? yes. Will I pre-order another expansion? No. Is SOE covered under it's EULA to produce broken stuff? Probably, I'm not a lawyer, nore do I ever intend to be one, (EULA reads something to the effect at the bottom, may not apply in all states, etc. Loopholes in the law are everywhere). Are you happy with the daily patches after EVERY expansion? Are you happy with the broken content? Did you enjoy the recent rollbacks and the ripple effect throughout the game?

I really enjoy the game, and the peeps who I meet and play with every day. I'm not happy with SOE's management of EQ.

These threads pop up like mushroom rings every time there's a major patch that has to be re-patched.

You should know better. SOE hasn't been able to do it right yet, why would you think they care to do it right, now?

I'm afraid we're not paying for a working game environment.. we're simply paying for the "service", as they make it available.

Its things like that that drive kids to egg houses and religious fantantics to blow themselves up.. all to make a point over something they demand done. In my view, ***** 'em if they **** you off so much. Just quit playing.

I'm a casual player who is getting more and more ticked off with them every time. I hear its better in PoRo, but I'm not even sure if I want to buy another money sick from them.. not renewing my account again. More than it being a way of getting back at them, I just plain don't want to.
Funny, too. I had planned on having 10,000 AA+ by the time I was old and retired, able to kill a noob zone off with a single AoE, since that's something you can do at my to-be level of 100+.

actualy PoR wasn't as smooth as the last few.

however, for the small cost of my months payment, i am MORE than happy with the game overall. go ahead, take 15 bucks and go see what it will get ya. frikin arcade games take from 1.00 to 2.00 now adays for what? 2 min of play? gimie a frikin break, you can play for HOURS, DAYS! for your 15 bucks in EQ. well worth the money.

and i will gladly keep paying for more content, struggle for a week or so, so i can then do what i want with even more things to do.

you all (the ones that complain) look at it wrong, what was the period of time that we had uninturupted game play... MONTHS!!!! during that time, for your 15 bucks, if you wanted, or were able, you could of been online on THEIR server doing nothing but taking up space. 24/7 if ya had wanted, for your 15 bucks.

/shrug

don't like it.... DON'T PLAY!!!!!! DON"T PAY!!!!!!

put a sock in it already ;-P

$15 will, in most places, get you ONE first-run movie ticket. If you can find a worthwhile film to watch, take a month off EQ, go to the theater, and have fun. For 90 minutes.

Well if ya think SoE is bad, try every other MMO. They all suck. WoW is down every Tuesday for at least 2 hours. Usually its 3-4 hours and if its a patch its 8-12 hours. Then it comes down again to fix the patch that fixed the other patch from the month before. Try Horizons. Lag central to this day. Buggy as hell on launch with about half the promised features. Try Anarchy online. Same deal.

Also SOE should be forced to PUBLICLY post ALL KNOWN issues relating to broken quests, etc.

heh I love this one- by who? The video game justice comission? I can see it now, George Bush giving a speech to Congress urging them to force Sony to be honest about EQ, right after he tells them why we need to stay the course in Iraq.

If you have issues with EQ you have issues with all MMOs. You just have to endure it unfortunately because it hasnt, and wont ever, change.

Ok, lets do the math...

First the monthly subscrition. You pay at most $14.99 per month to play. That works out to be about 2 cents ($0.02) per hour to play. Remember, EQ is available for 24 hours per day, it is not Sony's fault that you have to work, sleep, eat, etc, but the game is available when you are not playing it.

Next to the cost of the expansion. This one is a little more complicated. You paid $29.99. I guess you have to spread this cost out over time. We can assumed that this will be new content for the next six months. People still play regularly in DoD, DoN and OoW. Knowing that, I would say this expansion has a lifespan of at least two years. That hourly cost works out to be about $0.002 per hour.

Ok, so with the PoR patches. We it is known that there is downtime with each expansion. So you really can't argue that the game was unavailable for the actual patch which was 12 hours. That is an 'accepted' downtime to play the online game that requires patches to load the new expansions. Outside of that patch there has been how much additional downtime? I know of about 15 additional hours of patching.

Sony has taken from you...

$0.30 for the monthly subscription
$0.030 of the cost of the expansion

$0.33 (rounded) is what you have essentially lost due to the excessive patching.

So you want to sue over 33 cents?

(edit: Sentence fragments are my friend. Sorry about those.)

Mental note: Please write this entire thread ahead of time for the next expansion. Just sticky it the week before. Save time for actual game information.

I just spent $20 on Peruvian food for lunch. If only I grazed on free snacks the company provides.. I coulda re-upped an EQ account!

lol

Oh noes.. SOE sucks (SoE rules too!)

/em starts swinging his Olde Sticke of Fanboi Thwacking

Ye gods, why do people think complaining about things that are wrong is whining? I suppose these are the folks that just meekly accept bad government without voting. Here's a hint: If you don't complain, things don't get fixed. If you don't think things need fixing, please share whatever medication has muddled you into a state of semi-conscious, drooling acceptance of SoE.

And of course, it's always amusing to see fanbois whine so hard about whiners.

Personally, I believe the best way to wake up a coprorate entity is a swift kick to the wallet. If falling subscriptions and poor expansion sales don't do it, maybe a lawsuit threat will. Can't hurt. :)

But hey, by all means keep whining about whiners. It's really productive. Gave me ten minutes of amusement.
