Mobs in PoR means level cap raise soonFollow

I know theres been threads with speculation on a cap raise recently, but I wanted to throw in my 2 cp based on what some of the PoR mobs are looking like.

My first day in the new expansion I decided to pick a fight with a yellow mob in The Devastation. All was well until he started summoning me (must have been a slow summoner because I landed 4 dots first). Then next thing I know I get summoned, quadded, and one of the hits on me was close to 2300 (yes, one hit). Fortuneately for me exodus was up and I lived to fight another day.

A friend that was explolring Eldiar (sp) Forest was telling me how a trash mob whacked him for 2900 in one hit! Keep in mind these are trash, normal mobs we're talking about here and not raid or even named mobs.

So this has made me think we're in for a level cap increase, probably on the very next expansion. These kinda sound like GoD mobs before OoW(which can still cut down a level 70 fairly quickly). I would imagine that some of the tougher raid guilds may see the end of PoR before the next expansion, but not many of us. Looking on the bright side, a level cap raise will allow some of the more recent content to be played by the casual group (especially spell missions and PoR stuff we haven't found yet).

edited for sp and grammar

Ya but the gear in PoR is insane(tier 2 DP gear from joke mobs(for the RvR)....)

And the groupable gear is insane as well

I don't think they will up the lvl cap anymore(at least I hope not =/) I think raising them anymore would gimp pretty much everything below GoD

As a wizard going from 65 to 70 nukes with the same increase you would have a 5500 nuke(10k with a max focus) and then you would probably have an upgrade to EF which would be an 8362 nuke(15k with focus......lvl 70 max focus with pet)

I mean damn that would make so many things useless =/

I think the next expansion will have a new level cap. It has been a while since the last. The new mobs do hit hard and well hit harder as more expansions are released.

With OoW it did raise the cap and PoP became easier. With the last few expansions, from what I have seen, makes low end PoP very easy. You can go and get crystals from DoN, get EP level gear and flag up to EP with ease. The spell missions from DoD is around the same level as a lot of time gear.

High end raid guilds will probberly see the end of PoR before the next one comes out but a lot of the lower end guilds are completeing the other expansion very quickly as well.

IMO it is time for a raise in level cap. The old spells will become useless as elorian has said but will be replaced with new spells, just as new spells replaced the old ones in OoW and PoP. Mobs will hit harder and have more hit points. That is what makes the game challangeing and want to improve your toon.

SoE would only up the lvl cap if they were planning another major expansion along with a few minor expansions...

If you replace old spells it will make some AAs useless(hell EF pretty much makes MB useless)........I mean come on youd also have an upgrade to manaweave.......67K Crits........that is way to much..........think of the boxed camps...........I mean damn you could pretty much group PoP.......

No no

If you want to improve it

Make the AAs and Spells better.......and the content harder......

increasing the lvls only gimps older content

2000+ hits will just mean EQ is heading straight to the standard group setup again. Those 5 levels won't cut it for joe average.

elo, outside of coirnav, xegony, the rathe, and maybe RZ script... all of pop is groupable already. including time.

I thought it was common knowledge that a major expansion will be released every 6 months.

with a well put together group, p1 dps requirements are pretty trivial. gods with adds get icky, but are still doable.

meh, they may hit for alot, but they dont hit very fast, slowed by a level 62 chanter, my mage pet could tank down red con mobs in devastation wiht a cleric healing (mage chaining raging servant at the mob to burn it down, cleric chain casting pious light) heavy on the mana, but it can be done, not to mention, not all the mobs summon, only a few, and its random

I seriously doubt there will be another level cap increase. IF they did, they will have to totally revamp places like DoDH upper levels and the upper PoP progressions. If they did not, this places would become MAJORLY obsolete.

I'm not opposed to level increases if it means more things to do for folks who might be bored at the end game. But if guilds on several servers complete the PoR material as quickly as they did the DoDH material, do we need a level increase?

When they do make another level increase I think we've seen they don't usually revamp older content, maybe with a few exceptions. I think they moved the old PoHate Inny to Nadox at some point and they upgraded Splitpaw a few times, but revamped Mistmoore barely lasted a few months and I think Velious mobs like AoW, Tormax, and Yelinak are still the same as they were when it took large raids to kill them.

I honestly believe that HAVE to up the level to keep EQ going strong for another few years. Many people play EQ to level their character and get better stuff. Without a cap increase the game will die a gruesome and ever quickening death.

nah, sadly, they just deleted old pohate inny. nadox inny is easier than he was.

another cap raise? i guess this would make it harder for the casual gamer.

you could have an easy time in PoP and older expansions but who would go there? everyone will be in the new expansions.

raising the level cap is the single greatest boon to the casual player ever.

If you look at some focus effects, they have an efficiency decrease after level 70...like the GoD foci did before OOW came out.

Yes, there are plans to raise the level cap. Probably with next espansion

It is very likely we will see a level cap increase with the next expansion. DoN, DoD and PoR are rather small content-wise compared to, say, OoW or PoP. With every expansion they try to include features that make it a "must-have." DoN had the Guild Lobby, DoD had MMs, PoR has buffblocking and more bank slots. A level cap increase would be a huge selling point. Does that mean I have to like it? No, it would mean I'm that much further behind but its not something I'd lose any sleep over. Some content would become more trivial then before. Oh well, thats the nature of the beast and has been happening since Kunark was released.

Actually, its time they did another Stonebrunt or Jagged Pines/Veksar.

Nothing has been done with Velious for a long time (excepting the addition of epic 1.5/2 mobs), perhaps some reworking of Kael or Wakening Lands?

Or maybe there is an island off Iceclad that the gnomes missed?
