* If you use more than one computer, consider your most-used or higher-quality machine.

How many of the Luclin character models do you have turned on?
None of them -- not even elementals or horses:39 (3.2%)
Only elementals and horses:40 (3.3%)
I play with a few models turned on:161 (13.1%)
About half-on / half-off:75 (6.1%)
I have most models turned on:90 (7.3%)
I play with all Luclin models turned on:821 (67.0%)
Total:1226

First post, again!

I only use the new models that I am forced to use, those being the gender/race models for those characters I play that use mounts. You are forced to use new models to use a mount.

:(

All now, since I finally got a new computer 6 months ago. I used to use none and still couldn't raid without staring at the floor all the time.

I use all of them exceept erudite females, simply because i think the new ones are ugly and the old models were relatively attractive

I usualy can have all on though I prefer to have ogre models off just so I can watch them scratch their butt once in a while. New model doesn't do that. =P

4.5 years later and my new PC still sucks at having all luclin models turned on during raids. and its very bad in new zones with all those new textures.

I've always played with all the the models turned on. I still get bad lag in PoK on the old computer and it still takes a couple of minutes to zone. My new computer runs them with no problems.

And I don't think your connection speed has alot to do with the lag. I've played using dial-up, DSL and cable at one time or another with the old computer and never noticed any difference in the game play. It seems to me that your PC's hardware makes the biggest difference.

I play with all on except halfling gnome and dwarf. IMO those races just look better in the old fashion.

I also have a GeForce 2 and I play with all luclin models turned on. I use dial up and rarely have any lag unless im running muliple accounts on the same computer. My computer is kinda crappy too, i use an AMD sempron 2600 and a 3 year old 40 dollar motherboard with a gig of RAM. Even then I don't lag too bad unless im in PoK.

On my desktop, at least, I have most models turned on, except for the Ogre and Trolls, I think, since I prefer the old looking ones.

The laptop, since it sucks, uses mostly old models, except for the necesary ones, and High elves. Maybe woodelves.

I have all the models turned on. I used to have problems with the old computer, but once I upgraded I turned them on. Couldn't believe how much of a difference it made.

Not from models, anyway. The server is just telling you who is where and what they are doing. The act of actually drawing them is left up to your own hardware. Like I couple people noted, you can have all models on and connect at 56k if the graphics/memory/processor hardware is there. Likewise, you can have a Pentium II with 128megs and a GeForce2 sitting on a T3 line and you'll still choke like hell running through a populated area.

When I'm only running one instance of EQ on one computer all models are turned on. When running multiple sessions of EQ on one system only the ones that have to be turned on (for mounts) are on.

All of em on. DSL is fast enough, if they're there...why not have 'em on?

I don't like some of the Luclin Models. I don't like the Ogres, TRolls, or Iksars. REally there is nothing wrong with the Ogres or TRolls, I just like seeing ogres as fat somewhat funny looking creatures. As for the Iksars they took away the neat way Iksars swim with the Luclin models. The old model they have a graceful swimming pattern, with Luclin they look like everybody else movement wise. Also once again I think the older models is somewhat funny and the new ones are not.

Oh I don't care much for the new male halfling either once again over the humor area.

I play with all new models on. The old Everquest models look like gnoll ****. Smiley: lol

I use them all and dont have lag from them. I only really get my lag in POK with so many people about (and the bazaar). So I really don't think its from the models so much as it is my computer is getting ancient and I need to upgrade. Plus I like the luclin models better.
#26 Mar 26 2006 at 12:23 PM Rating: Decent
I do the same.

I was under the impression the few models you used the faster your overall graphics performance would be. not sure if that was true when Luclin came out, but i still stick to that.
