It's been a bit over a year since PvP server merged into one and almost a year for the rest of the servers. So for those of you who were around back then, did you stay on the merged server or move to another? Do you like the merged server better now or did you still prefer the older server? And for that have moved, do you ever regret it or not? So many questions so just wanted to see your $0.02 on things before and after.

I used to be on Vazaelle before it merged with Maelin. Since the merger, the average prices in bazaar have dropped signifiantly except for the rarest stuff, they ended up more expensive.

It has been easier to get pickup group with more peeps on. Before with Vazaelle, it wouldn't be unusual to go all day LFG without a single bite. Nowday I usually don't go more than 30 minutes and in few cases I got invited within a couple minutes of putting LFG up.

Bad things: camp name are different on Maelin than on Vazaelle. This caused some unintentional camp stealing and even today I still get mixed up. About 2 weeks ago there were confusion over a WOS camp I was in. Someone called it assassin camp and other claimed cubby. Unfortunately it's both the same camp >_<

Aside from a few quirks, it has been much better after the merges. I sort of miss my old guild Knights of Green Mist as it was the very first guild created on Vazaelle and will remain permantly the oldest guild on Vaz. Right now I rarely see more than 5 online at once and most of them won't last 10 seconds in WOS.

PvP servers merging was a disaster for Rallos Zek. Guild politics was vital in keeping things in check. Also, there was an "Anti-PvP"* player type that was dominant on Rallos which was gone by the time I returned (I was absent for the months surroudning the merger). In the PvP environment, the sudden change in power was more than just camps- it threw everything off.

*PKer's were those who killed at random, and generally often, and Anti-PKer's were those who banned against the PKer's, helping one another. "Nuetrals" took neither side, often more out of the way and doing as they will.

I have had nothing but good experiences since the merge. I joined a new guild and made many new friends. I was on Zeb which merged with Xegony. As you said it is much easier to find a group since the merge.

i play in bertox now. i was in tholuxe paells before the merge.

the merges have made the lfg wait a lot less. of course, you have to be post 65th level. i tried playing alts (50s) but you still had to wait a while for that.

the bazaar is well populated too. i was quite surprised to see so many traders around 400 i think.

I had moved from Vazaelle to Stromm and then to The Rathe when the mergers happened.

The move to Stromm was interesting, Vaz was the the newest of the "original" servers (Kunark era) and had a community that was quite typical of the old servers. Stromm was quite different and took a bit of getting used to, its not just that names of camps and player lore were different, there is something else harder to define, an attitude difference. From what I understand Stromm continues on now as strong as it ever did.

The Rathe merged with Karana and it seems that mostly the European based people came across with the merger.

For me this was sort of comforting as Vaz also used to have a very strong European population.

The Rathe is much more like Vaz was in the old days and there is now a decently strong population. Groups aren't too hard to get and there is at least someone around through most time zones, with the mix of U.S., European and a reasonable Aussie/NZ population. It seems to have settled down quite well.

Coming from Vallon Zek, that whole anti-pvp was strange. But I think the sever is much more interesting now, especially with the contrasting pvp styles and play styles. The hardest to adapt to were those who played on Sullon Zek, as training and attacking while one was engaged with a mob was ok for that server, but most of the other 3 discuraged that type of behavior.
Anyway, I like the server, although prices of things have gone up in our bazaar. Smiley: banghead

It was entirely acceptable on Rallos. As long as you argued your train on the guy was to help your PvP fight against him, the GM's allowed it. (Training without making an attempt to kill yourself was illegal, though, since with an attempt was legal, was very hard to prove, and hence not enforced at all.)

In all honesty, I think they should have merged the 3 "safer" PvP servers (Tallon, Vallon, Rallos) into one, and left Sullon as a free-for-all above the sixth level. Yes, it was frustrating at first to be playing a character, and randomly get headshotted by a higher level ranger, but after I got into the groove, it became quite fun =). I won't say that Pkilling on Zek is all that bad... it's just really frustrating with the tutorial now, seeing people with their pets killing lowbies... Yes, Mage/Beastlord/Necromancer pets can beat the crap out of lowbies, even if the player is only level 1, and the pet is level 10 =(. But I do miss Sullon, and if I thought it would do any good, I would try to petition or something to get it restored =P.

End of... well... pseudo-rant... yeah, whatever it was.

I have been on The Rathe since I started EQ and the merges have led to many changes, some great some not so hot. There used to be a controlled raid cycle RTA that died at the merge which meant now for the Epic 1.0s you have to know when the last kill was etc. For the most part though finding groups is better than ever.

I was on Tholuxe Paells and was merged to Bertoxxulos.

First thing I noticed was everyone in PoK shouted all the time. Hehe, not much shouting on TP. So that was new!

Also camps had different names and different pull points. Most noticeable to me was in Paludal Caverns, MPG, and Draniks Scar. Quite a bit of ugliness erupted and still does occassionally especially in MPG and DS. Haven't been to Paludal in a while so don't know if it is still going on there.

One thing is our charter prohibits us from camp stealing and ninja looting, but seems many guilds on Bertox don't care if their guildies do this (many times it is officers doing it). I don't remember this being a big issue on TP, but I will say on Bertox seems it goes on alot more. That I hate the most about the change.

Economy is completely different. Things seem much more expensive on Bertox than TP, but also a huge price range on same items. So that isn't all bad. TP items generally were within a few plat of each other. It is interesting.

Lfg is easier in high level game. But low level I haven't had a problem just heading to preferable zone and /ooc lfg. Seems to work better for lowbies to find a group that way.

Funny to me is on TP /rand was always /rand 100 and Berties always ask for /rand 5 555.

I have made some great friends from other guilds on Bertox, and for that alone I can appreciate the merge, since I would have never met them otherwise!

Hehe, that is pretty good. I wonder why (5, 555), though?

same thing on The Tribunal. The AR folks would say roll 6's and we'd say, "huh? Now that I know what they mean, it's not so confusing. In MPG it was CY, on AR it was 6way, in WoS it was *** camp, and on AR it was cubbies, also. Why didn't they just take the servers that called camps the same thing and merge them?

Mith marr to emarr was ok. prices floated for a bit but settled down. Groups became easier.
However Elneclare and I both discussed moving to povar and did not, something that we did back in december. I certainly wish we had gone earlier, as the folks in Aude Sapere are fun to group with.

Argh the work involved in knowing what camps were called!!! And where, maybe they match in WoS and not somewhere else. Even in PoK it's big bank, main bank, or brick bank. It's plink for an AA or dAAng for an AA, it is just not going to match across servers. And I would think population would be the most important thing.

I stayed with my main server but only because by the time I got all my toons together, and then had a couple of family problems come up, it was to late to move. I had considered moving to Povar for Aude Sapere.

On emarr it isnt so bad now. At first we welcomed the new people comming from MT. Then you could see the fights in /ooc comming across. I think everything if fine now. =) The random seemed to be always a question. On emarr we did /random 1 6 but MT did 500. It was always a discussion when it came to who got what.

i was wondering about that ran 5 555. i was so used to the ran 100 in tholuxe.

The reason for not doing lets say 1-100 all the time is cause of cheating. If someone knows what numbers people role you can cheat. That is why on A Ro we started doing /ran 5 555 or 6 666 or many other combos. I know the cheating works for I have seen it first hand. Or at least it used to work they said they have put in ways to find the cheaters but you all know how far that goes hehe.

Interesting, I have never heard it called plink or dAAng. We have always said ding (level) and ping (aa). Big bank and little bank or main bank and little bank. I used to call the little bank...the branch bank. Never heard the big bank called the brick bank.

It is really fascinating there are so many differences.

I was on Morden Rasp when we merged into Povar.

The biggest thing we got from the merge was a stabilized economy - prior to the merge I think we had one of the strangest economies in the game. We probably hurt Povar's economy when we arrived.

I don't think Povar really got anything beneficial from us except an infusion of players relatively new to the game.

I would have to say the Tribunal / A. Ro merger has worked out rather well. Yes, we had misunderstandings about camps and loot rolling was different...but that was it. For the most part, players and guilds have done a great job coming together after the merger.

The main thing I noticed after the merger was (of all things) where MGBs took place in the PoK. Tribunal pre-merge was always at the Nexus Stone. A. Ro did thiers at the main bank. After the merger and everything settled down, most MGBs now take place at the main bank.

One nice thing from the merger...the Bazaar prices went down, WAY DOWN. Pre-merge Tribunal was horrid, if the truth is know. Examples - Misty Thicket picnics were going for 20pp to 35pp a piece. The same item is now selling at 4pp to 8pp. Clumps of dough used to sell at 6pp to 9pp. It now sells at 2pp to 4pp. Qeynos Afternoon Tea was 30pp to 45pp, now it's 15pp to 20pp.

Druzzil Ro/Xev server merge seemed to go fine. Biggest lingo frustration I had was mana check calls. Xev called percents, while druzzil called things by number of yellow bars. I called mana check once and healer called "4m". I was thinking we had one gimp cleric =p. Fortunatley, most have since adopted the Xev percent system. Not all of us have standard UIs after all =p.

I haven't figured out how someone can cheat on a roll. I have seen typos /rand 555 555 which would give a winning roll of 555. But I assumed it was a typo as they rerolled. I rolled a 100 on /rand 100 once and the group leader scrolled back to be sure it wasn't a typo. Can't blame him at all, typos happen. But if people are intentionally doing that to win a roll I don't see it happening successfully simply because most people are paying attention.

So I can't really say I knew people cheated on rolls either.

The way they cheat is with macroquest you can do lots of things with it like transfer no drop items, zone warping and many others things. So if they know you always role 1-100 they could program it to roll high.

A personal favorite:
/random 31999 32000
/me wins!

it is absolutely impossible to hack the random system at this point in EQ's life, unless you break in to sony's servers. macroquest combined with custom code, although very capable, can't do it.
