Burning Affliction and Muram's AngerFollow

#1 Apr 06 2006 at 5:43 AM Rating: Decent
Hello all, just a quick question. Assuming I had both:

Burning Affliction V https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=6412

and Muram's Anger
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=6426

Would both effects stack, or would only one take precedence?

Thanks in advance.

From what I was told, when I had a similar question just about different effects the better one or stronger one of the 2 activates they both won't activate,it would be devastatingly awesome if they Both worked at same time:)BOOM!!!

Only the stronger of the two focus effects takes effect. When you cast your spell, you'll get an emote saying that you can use to tell which item's focus is taking effect, such as "Your Item Of Awesome Uberness begins to glow" would mean that the focus on your Item of Awesome Uberness has just triggered.

They would not stack. Only Muram's Anger would take effect on magic-based spells, and Burning Affliction would take effect for everything else.

here is a question i have always wondered about...

Since either of those focuses hare a definate 20% or 25% increase in damage, that is, its anywhere from a 0%-25% increase every time it checks, and you have both those focuses on..then...

What if it checks both and for BA you get the random 11% incresae in damage, then in the same turn it checks MA and you get a 18% increase, it would chose MA....

But what if it checks BA and gets a 20% increase, and checks MA in the same turn and gets a 18% increase, does it use the BA focus?

or does it just always use MA?

It checks for the higher % item first. Muram's Anger will always be used vs. Burning Affliction UNLESS you cast a NON magic based spell (cold , fire etc.).

Which of these to use or both really depends on your class. A few examples...

I use Muram's only on my chanter, sine his dps comes in the form of a Magic DoT and a Magic Nuke.

For my druid I once thought about using both, since all swarm dots are magic. He also has fire dots that would benefit from the Burning Affliction.

For some other classes the Burning Affliction would be much greater advantage than Muram's if you had to pick between the 2. For those that use mainly poison and disease based dots, the BA would be your best bet.

One nice thing about Muram's is it increases Magic Nukes also, BA is just dots, so if you are using magic nukes, keep that in mind.

Just my 2cp, hope that helps clarify a little.

Necros would use both...Muram's affecting lifetaps, leaches and our Horror DoTs. BA would benefit all other DoTs (fire, disease, poison).
