what was the cap before Kunark then?
#8 Apr 07 2006 at 9:42 PM Rating: Good
50.

Sorry guys, but the answers on this thread have been making me cry.
The answer's 60, btw.

EQ was just released, level cap was, what, 30? Then it was knocked up to 50 in the classical era. Kunark was released, and the cap became 60, where it stayed, through the Luclin era, and up to the PoP era. With PoP's release, it was knocked up to 65. Then.. I quit before it became 70, but that was OOW? Also, note that AA's came out during the mid/late Luclin era.

the cap at release wasn't 30. aas weren't released in midluclin era.

there was only one mistake in this thread (that had already been corrected..) before your post =p

The level cap was 30.. or 25?.. at release. It was to make sure exploits didn't allow anyone to hit 50 right away. Consider it a post-beta test. If you weren't around for it, then, well.. whatever I suppose.

This post was a summation with everything ordered. I'm a bottom-line type poster, as you should've noticed by now. And when where AA's released, if I'm off on the time period? That's more helpful than your flame.

the cap was lower at certain points during beta.

it was fifty at release.

aas were released with luclin.

Flat out disagree about both points; AA's didn't come out at Luclin's release and there was a level cap for the opening days of EQ's live form. Feel free to provide case against it; memory can be flawed. Just provide reference.

I'm too lazy to dig up references to something this simple.

It's kind of like asking me to provide confirmation that PoK was included in PoP's release.

Well, as a technicality, nothing in the Luclin expansion was available upon release. That was one of the worst releases in gaming history, akin to id Software's "2 week" release promise for Quake.

But, as for the 25-30 level cap on EQ's release, that's just baloney.

Blah. I'm going to have to find something about the early level cap then.
At least that's confirmation enough about the AA's. :P

hahaha.

man, they really need to have [sarcasm] tags on these forums...

just in case, you actually, uh, didn't get it... debalic was just making a smartass crack about all the bugs on luclin release, he wasn't saying that aas weren't in luclin at release.

with anyone else I would have assumed it was kidding.. but.. you actually came in to a thread, sighed about other people's wrong answers, then tried to say that the game was level 30 at launch...

you are correct about the AAs, but not about the Level cap on opening day. the game opened with level 50 as the cap. there were hell levels in the 30s that really upset a lot of players and VI flat out lied to the paying customer base saying they could not be fixed and that they were an error in the code.

yet several expansions later the "error" was fixed and only post 50 levels remained with the "errored code" and called working as intended.

only during beta were there level caps lower then 50.

he's not correct about the AAs either. I bought run 1around three weeks in to the expansion... but that was the first time I could log on, and the patch messages had nothing to say regarding aas being disabled

perhaps you're thinking of the bazaar? =p

the AA was never disabled, they just were not THERE when SoL went live, just like the bazaar was not there when the expansion went Live. the AAs were so fubar when they did come out that they were revamped several times.

SoL took 9 months for all advertised features to go live in the game after it was put on the shelf for purchase.
#25 Apr 08 2006 at 10:59 PM Rating: Good
hm. you sure? I could be misremembering, I'll try to find something one way or another later
#26 Apr 08 2006 at 11:03 PM Rating: Decent
im positive on the 9months for the bazaar as i tossed a major fit as the bazaar was the ONLY reason i paid for the SoL expansion when i did.

as for the AA i could be off a bit, but i do remember them not working correctly for the first year or so after the expansion and SoE reset them serveral times for differnt classes.

i was thinking they were not LIVE with the expansion too. just the new zones, race, mods, and the portals that were fubar for several months after expansion went live.

the bloody scions could never keep their act together and the ports were down more then up. much like the boats in later expansions thus the trusty little gnome fellas on the ends of the docs.

btw are those guys still there?
