Beastlord and ? duo, help needed.Follow

#1 Mar 26 2009 at 7:10 PM Rating: Decent
I'm just coming back after nearly four years, and looking to start up an account with my brother, with the hope of duoing from 1-85. Money will be tight, so it needs to be a setup that can work without a lot of gear. I've heard Beast/Necro or Beast/Druid so far, neither of which is all that appealing. Are those the only/by far the best possibilities, or is there another combination out there?

I don't know if it's a realistic possibility, but i'd also like to work towards low end high level gear, be it through quests or older bosses that are now duoable. Is that possible, or am I stuck with whatever is buyable, and buyable at a low price.

because of defiant armor (the new global armor that is got stats better then most armor you can get from most zones) and the fact its so conmmon.. you can play any class really with no cash... A warrior will wear defiant armor till 70+ and look to spend maby 5k on full suit no matter what level armor (crude/simple/ornate/flawless/intricate/elaborate) (least on Xegony server).. with that said your possibilities for a gear is endless.. and making 5k today even starting with nothing takes no itme at all... do the Crecent REach quests for armor.. will get you through level 30 with some decent armor... and save up your cash.. by 30 you will be able to afford defiant armor...

Hail

I would go with beastlord and mage. Get SoD on one account for the healer merc. This will allow you to do LDoN and DoN misssions if you so choose. The mage will add some nice dmg to the group.

I would think Druid/beast for a true duo. Though it not appealing you have dots, snare (which can be a lifesaver) ports and nice nukes. I cant two box the combo however.
I would look at a mage yes, as mentioned two pet classes are great, but the mage has to worry about aggro control, even with a merc cleric.

On a off side look at Sk or ranger. Ranger can shoot outside of melee range while the beast does the tanking. Or he can come in and do some tanking himself but the beastlord alone wont be able to keep up on heals against a lot of mobs.
Again a merc healer can help out.

I currently run a Monk and Magician with a Tank and Healer merc. I just finished Void C access at lv 81 and forsee doing more progression as I level.

The Monk single pulls and we do so much DPS that we don't need anymore utility than that.

I currently two box a beastlord and a ranger. Fun stuff they compliment each other well. I use two healer mercs. Seems to keep me alive even at lvl 77 with yellows. Good Luck.

I've been playing a beastlord (73) and SK (75) combo. BST has a tank merc, SK has a healer merc. Working out well for me. Decent DPS, can handle multiple pulls and Named. Fighting in the Buried Sea for now, doing the hand augment. Things have been white to yellow for the SK, so yellow to red to the BST.

On Mayong, I had a BST/Druid combo, with a healer merc. Druid would add some DPS, snares for runners, and heals when the merc went stupid (which was far too often.)

I love my beastie, I play him above all others.Smiley: nod

You have to remember that he is a wearer of leather, and mitigates damage horribly.Smiley: oyvey

Aa's can make that much less of a problem, but will not fix it completely. Another problem that aa's fix is that your pet aa's include a snare proc. It procs several times during a fight but is very short duration.Smiley: tongue

If you put a bst with a tank and you have a few aa's there is no end to the fun. That is why I love my Sk, he complemented my beastie very well, as we were coming up in levels.Smiley: wink

In all honestly though, I have mercs with all my toons now-a-days. This allows me to play any of my toons with any other toon, I have a few accounts and have all classes covered.Smiley: sly

So this question everyone keeps asking..."what toon to duo or 3-box with this other toon?" is moot anymore. The best duo is the one that tickles your fancy...even more so now that you can put the brunt of the work on the mercs when needed.Smiley: cool

For playing with other people, though I always enjoy the beast and his pet.

Without a "best Duo-trio-box-merc etc. Combos" sticky thread... I don't see these discussions going away. I am okay with that, since one patch can change alot (or an expansion in the case of SoD).

Besides, as a sticky it would likely get ignored.

It was sort of odd that this particular thread got necroposted, though I found the recent responses interesting.

It was necroposted at the 7th month mark as well. Op being dated 3/26/09.
I don't always mind necro posting but since I had made a very good post back in march on this subject I was wondering why it was bumped.

Sigh!
Plus 1 to post numbers. Maybe that was why.
