How is weapon efficiency calculated by the search engine?

It's been a long time since I had an allas premium account so I'm not 100% sure on this but I think it's the ratio of damage/delay so the larger the number, the more efficient it is.
Not sure what's used in the search, but weapons used to be listed with a calculated Efficiency and Offhand Efficiency (if it could be offhanded). You can find the formula they used here: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/itemhelp.html
EDIT: Found an old post that answered this, at least at that time, I haven't used weapon comparison search for a long time: Alla's Weapon Ratio = Delay / Damage So that very low numbers (<1) are extremely high DPS weapons.
