Sorry about this...Follow

My first post and it is out of disappointment. I am trying to learn when a pally alt I started will get Disarm. I thought there used to be a table somewhere. Major problem is I see there is no drop information on Rough Combatant's or Adept's shoulder, back and waist items. Makes me wonder what the good of all this is. When I look up some class guides it all seems to start at like level 70. Where may I find an explanation on "evolving" weapons? Why don't certain augments for sale in bazaar at my level(s) show any augment effects? I don't feel sophisticated enough in EQ (not sure I should have to be)to try to figure it out on my own. I don't believe I should have to constantly barrage the server asking about what everyone else already seems to take for granted. Without the assistance that Alla used to provide I cannot be confident the game retains its appeal of 4 years ago. Please help me get straightened out.

Thank you,

Another lost person...

If you check with the paladin guildmaster he will show you a list of your skills and when they are trainable. No need to come here for that.

I've played EQ for a total of 5 years, maybe 6 and I don't know what an evolving weapon is either. Frankly, until I get one, not knowing doesn't bother me. I also don't know why the augments in the bazaar have no descriptions. The bazaar interface for finding augments seems so bad to me that I ignore them too. Once in a while I get an augment as loot, and I run back to the bird bath in the guild lobby and install it.

It's like Christmas. It's exciting. It wouldn't be so exciting if I knew that that augment was actually crap.

Everquest was and is a game that you will never know everything about even if you read all the information on fan sites you can. Do you know there are people who still wonder if certain alternate advancement abilities actually do anything at all? For years I questioned whether stats did anything at all as well and it wasn't until the advent of defiant armor that I realized - yes... yes they do, but they do so little that you need +100 to notice. Can you imagine how silly I now feel having gotten so excited about getting a bracer with +5 strength?

I probably shouldn't be posting this at all cause it might be seen as unfriendly or something. It's not actually. If they handed us all the info right in game, Everquest would be Warcraft or something. I guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes it doesn't hurt to just embrace the mystery of not knowing.

Oh and the adept's and combatant shoulders, belts, and cloaks... you should talk to Franklin Teek in the PoK about those.

It's Everquest, there are no silly questions except those that aren't asked.

But as Sam said, GM is your best bet, especially because some things change from time to time.

Although the tradeable and dropped version may not have any info (Drop info, is user submitted, but items appear in the database via Lucy's Item Collector, which automatically uploads any linked item it sees), you can get the no trade versions from two PoK venders, namely: Iason Yureska (Items 50+) and Keefe Stearns (Items 5-49)

Also about the drops, defiant gear is game wide, and level dependant of the mobs killed, so you can look up any similar level defiant item, and the same mobs will have a chance to drop the other items in the same level (level, in your case being Rough).

Tip of the Week - Evolving Items directly from Sony

The invisible augments are part of the special player-made jewelry line. The augs only work in the special metal settings. To get an idea of what stats you will get at certain levels refer to: Kyro's Gnomish Jewelcrafting Gizmonotron. If you're starting at a lower level, you can simply upgrade the setting every 10 levels or so. Why 10 levels, because the best setting is from 4 below to 5 above the recommended level of the setting.

You might also want to check out the stickied New / Returning Players thread, and links to the newest expansion release notes (almost the last post on the aforementioned thread).

It is normal to be lost after a long break, the game is ever-evolving, and as good as Alla is at covering alot of the game, it doesn't cover it all, and you may have to look elsewhere for the specific information you need.

Hope this helps some,

EDIT: Fixed Tip of the Week link (Sony always changing stuff)

As other said, go to a paladin guildmaster. Right click on the guildmaster and it will list all of your skills. It will either tell you your current skill level or at what level you gain access to the skill. If it isn't listed with your guildmaster, then it is not a skill that you get. There are some disciplines and skills that some people might think are skills, but they are actually a different category. All disciplines and spells are list on the "spells" portion of the Allakhazam website.

These are quest rewards for the hotzone quests. There is a human NPC in the Plane of Knowledge right outside of the Guild Lobby. Do one of his quests and select your reward. The quest can only be completed once per day. The items are tradeable, so if you can get a friend to do the quest with you, the friend can give you the items.

Sadly the class guides that were written for level 1 to 60 could be as much as 10 years old and contain completely incorrect information.

An evolving weapons gains experience. The weapon will then level or evolve into a new weapon. Usually it is a multiple version process to go from the original item to the final, fully evolved weapon. You actually have to have the item equipped during the kill of the mob (various reports say you need it equipped for the last 30% of the mobs HP). On the inventory screen there is tab that lets you turn on/off the item getting exp.

Can you give an example of an augment? Some augments are stat only, some have a passive effect (like saving mana on a spell cast), and other offer active effects like a weapon proc (on a swing of the weapon the weapon can "cast" as spell).

Edit: Oops, I forgot about the jewelry augments that don't show the stats until you combine them. Those pissed me off, so I ignored them.

Barrage us. There are many helpful people on this site.

I have to agree with that --seemed like such a backwards step to do those particular augments that way.

Ngreth had said they were working on making them visible, but last I heard him say that was in the spring '09, so they may have ran into problems with it or something, as it seemed like it would go live by now from his optimistic posts.

The way the scripts are done, I'd say it's a huge problem trying to make them show even close to what you'd expect stats, since they greatly depend on the players level as well the setting they're in. And showing only the unmodified stats, would probably even more confusing, and cause lots of people uninformed about them to purchase them.

Well after looking them up on Lucy again, they have lowered the maximums (or maybe that was done on Lucy's part), so they don't look so outrageous for an item with no required or recommended level, and that may have people thinking they can put them in a Cultural Wrist (which you can insert them, but get 0 effects / stats from being placed in such an item).

Either way, it would be nice if they showed soem stats, but I can see where they may have trouble, not only in the coding, but also in deciding how to do it, i.e. for level 54 should you show stats in a Velium or Palladium setting?

And yea, Shoulders, Back, and Waist are from the Franklin Teak tasks, as well as some of the other items you can buy. Many of the items drop as well, but easier to get via quest or purchasing. Too many other questions, I forgot it was about shoulders, and that Sam answered it :D
