Most instances are raid level, and thus do not allow mercs. However, with that said, there a few. The GoD group Expeditions:
High Priest Diru Riwirn for Sewers Expeditions
Gamesh for Sewers Expeditions
Apprentice Udranda for Tipt Expeditions

There are a few quest related instances as well. Only one in particular i remember atm, is Treasure of the Dead in The Steppes, but if you look around the TSS quests, there should be some more. And I haven't tried any of these instances since the introduction of mercs, so not 100% you can use them in them, but as they're group tasks, you should be able to.

EDIT: What I meant to put in earlier: Post about Instances

Just you and your friend will not be able to do Raid tasks with only your two characters and mercenaries. Or group task that require 6 or more. There a lot of LDoN’s that require only three players which you fall under. Also solo task that one can do with the help of another and then repeat task for the other person. You will find that Almost ever zone has someone to talk to or an instant to accomplish.
With that said, in Allakhazam search window type in the word “Task”. “Group” “Raid” etc. You would see how vast a question you asked.

Also can look under Quest tab on left side of Allakhazam page

For Raids you need to find a raid active guild on your server.

Part of the game is talking with the NPC strategically placed throughout game.
Have fun Discovering. It is EVERquest.

There are some zones that exist both as regular (i.e. non-instanced) and instanced versions that are created just for you when you start a quest. Look up, e.g., Unrest: The Curse Begins (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zone.html?zstrat=284) and Hate's Fury: Setting Sail (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zone.html?zstrat=289). The rewards are somewhat obsolete now, but they are fun zones to visit. Unrest: The Curse Begins was also pretty good XP back when it was released, but I am not sure how it rates now.

65 is a good time to work on some DoN progression too. The stuff you can buy with the alt currency may not be very worthwhile by todays standards but the secondary rewards are.
