As one of the earliest EQ-related info sites, castersrealm had a lot of recognition. But bottom line it wasn't really that good. The spell info was useful because it was fairly complete. The rest of the info was generally superficial and very incomplete, especially when compared to allakhazam and other long-gone sites like eqprices.com. Even allakhazam can be incomplete, however, as any search here for info on certain AAs, discs and abilities clearly demonstrates.
Not to change the subject (much) but the best early site ever was/is eqatlas.com. I'm glad the Mac server people are keeping a version of it alive. Aside from those excellent hand-drawn pencil-colored maps, the writeups about each zone are so entertaining and interesting. I remember reading them in the early days when Muse's descriptions of the dangers of each zone would chill me as much as his descriptions of the rewards would entice me. I can't imagine the amount of work he put into eqatlas, especially where he would map zones by running his toon around the entire zone, writing down coordinates of notable locations. I think he was a medical student at the time too, which makes it even more amazing. At one time he was selling a download of the entire site which could be printed out. I bought it and created my own paper atlas which I used for years. Sony has never put together a single map as informative as any of his.
