My daughter is bugging me to build her a new EQ computer now that she has joined a raiding guild. She has a job and is going to pay for it (nice huh?) but I have to build it for her. I used to build lots of computers but have not done so in a few years now and have fallen way behind the times.

Can someone help me out with a set of components from NewEgg that combined will play EQ well but not be too expensive? Would love to be able to do this for under $500 and it seems like this should be reasonable. She doens't play any other games so it doesn't have to be high-end. Will want to put Windows7 on it. Any issues with EQ and Windows7?

Thanks

Might want to check out the sony tech forums, there is a whole thread there about EQ and Win7.

For components to build your pc, check out the technical specs Sony suggest for pcs to run eq with, with those you should be able to find the components you need to build it.

see:
- The minimum system requirements for EverQuest
- EverQuest System Requirements

Good luck.

Check out Tom's Hardware to learn about this in detail, but my suggestion for a very affordable, powerful (and upgradeable) PC would be:

a 770 motherboard (e.g. GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3)
Athlon II X3 435 processor
Any DVD drive
Antec Three Hundred Case
Samsung Spinpoint Hard drive
ATI Radeon HD 4850 Graphics card
Corsair 650 PSU

And of course Win7.

That machine should be easy to build, and will make her eyes pop out at what it can do for the money. If you want more eye candy, check out Tom's 'Best GPU for the Money'; March's edition is HERE. The Best Gaming CPU for the Money is HERE.
