Hi,
I plan to multibox two accounts on one computer. Unfortunately it is not a very young computer:
Pentium M 1.7 gig
2 mb ram
ATI mobility radeon 7500 graphic card.
I will not be going on raids and stuff, just playing on a group level and ejoying the game.
Will multiboxing work decently? Is there anything I can do to better the system performance (other than buying a new computer ...)? like using WinEQ or so?
Any advice is much appreciated.

In theory, what you have will be enough - but it will be very laggy.
Two boxing on one PC can crash on zone.
Using windows mode gives you wierd problems, after a zone toons go all black and buildings go white. Use full screen mode and alt between screens.

I used to box on a system similar to yours and it worked fine, just not in the newer expansions. TSS and above is going to be annoying.
Lowest graphics possible. Disabling luclin graphics might make the game look like crap, but it helps on non-uber machines.

That spec sounds like a laptop.
While I used to 2-box happily on a PC with a similar spec my laptop which on paper should have been better suffered from strange sort of slow motion effects.
Just make sure you have all the clever power-saving features disabled.

Aye, that looks like a laptop.
Disable the power saving features is a very good call.
EQ is very CPU dependent so that's where your bottle neck will be, though more RAM wouldn't hurt.
As already mentioned, you may need to play on lower graphic settings and even disable the luclin PC models to get good performance.
If you are still laggy after disabling luclin graphics, you can turn off spell effects and stuff like that too.
Oh....and WinEQ2 will infact help. It plays a huge role when you a dual core or quad core computer as it puts 1 instance per core. So, on my machine which is a quad, I have 2 running on 2 cores, and 1 on each other core to equal my 6. However, WinEQ2 does help regulate the CPU draw from EQ so it won't be jumping all over the place.

I 3-box most of the time with a P4 3.2, 3gb RAM, and a NVidea GeForce 6800GT. I play with Luclin models on, most other graphics at minimum. I use WinEQ2 on all 3. I get decent performance except in SoD... it seems to kill my video card. Once I get the WinEQ2 'Low on Texture Memory' error, it is all downhill from there.
I would imagine my setup would two box with no problems at all. I probably could even turn up some graphics settings.
I used to try an play with the same setup, but only 1gb ram, but my computer just gave me the finger most of the time. the extra 2gb was a huge boost.
A tip about WinEQ2, set only one account to check for updates to EQ. That way each account you log into will remember the username for that account. Every account that does check for updates uses the same config file, so it will always remember the last account it logged into. Using the 'don't check for updates on this session' option uses a separate config file.
Anyway, I am sure that your system will two box just fine. Definitely use WinEQ2 though, it is much better about switching between accounts.
