Toons Removed For Inactivity on FV server??Follow

Greetings everyone!

For the entire time I've played EQ, including approximately 6 years or so I've been away, I stayed on one server. No matter how long I've been gone, when I return my toons are always there.

I recently moved all of them over to the FV server. Yesterday in chatting with one of my new guildies with a 20's toon, she said she used to have a level 58 toon but was inactive for a time and when she returned it was gone! From reading one of the stickies in this forum plus my own experience, toons above level 10 (or thereabouts) are not deleted.

Does anyone know if the FV server is different in the aspect of deleting non-active toons? I'm going to be ill if I transferred them over and now could lose them.

Thank you again for any information.

Did your friend move a character onto a server where they had the slots full?

Pretty sure if you fill the default 8 and transfer one over... a character goes into "invis mode" until you buy an extra character slot or create one (by moving someone out or deleting someone).

I had a level 1 char on FV for years with no incident... so have not heard of this issue specific to that server before.

Hi snailish and thank you for responding :)

I didn't inquire more as to the exact situation of my friend because she made it sound like she only had the one toon and was now starting over with the same race/class. I'll ask if she had more toons. I wouldn't think FV would be different than other servers on this issue, but since my friend mentioned that I've been a bit concerned.

I have read via my research and I believe it is in the stickie at the top of this forum about returning to EQ that now characters under level 10 are periodically wiped out, so that may be something relatively new.

Heading back to get more info from my friend.

No Firiona Vie is no different to other servers.

The only time inactive toons have been deleted in all the years in the last 10 years has been during the last 2 bouts of server mergers.

I would suggest that something else maybe happened to your friends toon, maybe it was deleted "by accident", or it could even have been on a different account. If something did happen to it I would suggest they petition to see if it can be recovered. Mostly this can be done if the same name has not been used again

Thank you egnaro...this is relieving my mind. *smiles*

I haven't had the opportunity to speak to my friend again (actually a new guildie I just met), but will be sure to inquire further re: some of the scenarios you have suggested.

After 7 active years on EQ I now play sporadically, but I like to return and see my toons just as they were when I last played. :)

It would be inappropriate to suggest you join our guild here, since you already have one :) .. but if you want to chat in game anyway /tell Reviak and I will help where I can

Safe journeys put there

That is so kind of you egnaro/Reviak (kind of like Azalysa/Terrillian *grins*). I'm assuming Reviak is on the FV server? If you get a tell from Terrillian, Azalysa, or Tsari - that's me. *smiles* Would love to say hi!

Characters do not get lost on FV server, only purge I recall on our server was for inactive level 1 s like 4-5 years ago. With new transfers you may end up with an X at the end of your name. It sounds like this is maybe a fish story though, I am not saying your friend/ new guildmate is lying just that overtime details become fuzzy and the fisherman remembers the trout he threw back for being too small as being larger then the boat he was in.

Anyway best way to resolve if this did happen and recently is to petition. It may take a couple of petitions but they will usually fix it unless they had a reason to delete the character/suspend/ban the account like hacking/warping. I can personally verify disputing the recurring monthly charge on your visa card when you take a year off from playing the game will get your account at least temporarily banned. I did eventually get that account restored but I had to come up with amount of the disputed charge in order to do that.

Loved your reply, fishtaco, and from someone who has toons on the FV server it further lessens my concern. I personally did not have any toons disappear; my concern was hearing this just after I transferred my toons over from their original server.

I spoke more with my guildmate and she said the lost toon was on another account. I ran into someone recently who came back to EQ after 6 years or so and had forgotten his former email & station name, thus was starting over. I'm wondering if that might have been the case with my guildmate as well. The toons are still there, the people just can't recall their former SOE info.

Thank you also for the contact info should I ever have any difficulty.

I had a level 2 character disappear, but not from FV. The inactivity period was about one year.

Naturally, since it was a level 2, I didn't mind too much.

The only unfortunate thing was that I had been giving it hand-me-down items that weren't usable by my other classes. Still, easy come, easy go.

Hi Oxgoad :) Prior to returning to EQ this time I created a toon on FV when only one toon was permitted. Since my main toons were on another server, I was in a guild, had friends on the other server, etc. iirc I only played the FV toon to about level 5 or so. It also disappeared, but the inactivity was at least three years.

From all the responses here and other research online, toons that are 15+ in level are never deleted and toons less than level 15 may be deleted, but not immediately. No matter how long I've been inactive, and I'm talking like 5 years or so, my other toons were always present upon return on my original server, and the responses on this thread indicate it is the same on FV. Yeaaaa!!!
