If I log off, say, halfway through a lesson and log back on 3 days later and finish; do I still have to wait 24 hours to Lesson again or no?

I never really paid attention before now so any clear answer would be most appreciated.Smiley: clown

In my experiance the time starts when you hit the hot key. So in 20 hours after starting Lesson you would be able to start the next one. I have gotten to a good camp and started my LtoD then camped wait 20 hours to log back, run out my active LtoD and then start it again. gives my 2 LotD back to back.

If I know I'm not going to play someone for a copule days, I'll sometimes log them in, pop LotD and then log out. So when I'm ready to play them, I have a 2nd one waiting for me to use.

I appreciate the question and answers as well. I won't be playing again for over a month, but this is a great tactic for when I return. Also, I'm assuming from observation that LotD is per account, not per toon, as I've used LotD on one toon, then switched to another and cannot use LotD yet.

Lesson of the Devoted is a "veteran award". The vet awards are tiered based on SOE calculation of how long you have paid for your account. Every year you show as paid you are supposed to up a tier. Every time you go up a tier (i.e., your character you claimed LotD on) you gain another new ability AND another character can claim the first tier. Eventually many characters can have LotD.

I've got LotD waiting to claim (at least once...) because I play so many alts I end up abandoning that I don't want to waste it. I probably wouldn't put it on a character now till I got them to level 70 and a couple hundred aa just to feel that I might keep playing them, but that is me.

Ah, ok. I played for 7 years straight before going inactive for 3 years so the Veteran Rewards I have would be for those 7 years. Per your explanation, my LotD only currently works for the account and, although I've used it on other toons on that account, it's only when the time is available again from another one.

Does sporadic playing, like playing 2 months here and there, add up for more veteran rewards, or does it have to be an entire year?

I only have 3 toons (well 4 if I count the one I just began on the progression server), play my main 98% of the time, just dusted off my Pally and now play her more often, and the third on rare occasions as well as being my Bazaar mule.

It is based on total accumulated "paid" time. If you only played for two months out of the last twelve years, that would mean you have paid for 24 months or 2 years, and would get the first two veteran AA rewards.

Since you have seven years paid, you should be able to claim the veteran rewards on seven toons.

All the veteran rewards I have are on all my toons, but I've noticed that the LotD, if used on one toon isn't available on another toon until the 20 hours have passed. At least I think that is how I've observed it work. I'll check it more closely when I resume playing.

Thank you, Wayen :)

That's not how it's supposed to work. Each toon is independent, so if you wanted (and had 10 toons with vet rewards) you could run them one after another after another for 5 straight hours.

Yeah, they're independent for me as well.

LotD on char 1, play it out, log out and back in as char 2, and LotD is available for that char. No linkage at all.
