One of the 3 goals I set for myself when I first began EQ at the end of 1999 was to save enough plat for a horse. Actually the horse may have come out in a later expansion, but it became one of my goals. Since I had no idea how to gain plat rapidly (still don't), it took a long time to save up enough to purchase one of the original EQ horses. I recall how proud I was of that achievement.

Fast forward to the present - my prized "rope bridle" horse is now way outdated; however, I received an "ornate barding" for purchasing House of Thule or one of the last 3 expansions. I have heard there is a way to combine the rope bridle horse with the ornate barding so it looks "prettier." How do I do that, please?

A followup question is - I understand there is a Pally-specific horse that I *think* I read is available at level 20. My Pally is level 38. I've looked around the UI screen and Options menu but don't see anything about a horse. A SK friend said her horse was an AA one but I understand SK's also get a horse specific to them.

So, is the Pally horse an AA situation (which can't begin until level 50...or 55?) or is there a way to claim it that I haven't figured out yet. When I research things like this prior to posting, I find just enough enough to know that something is possible, but not *how* to do it...lol.

Many thanks again.

Holy steed. Very fast horse. It's an AA mount you summon. Available I think at 55.

With the last expansion, you should have received 999 of the lion mounts. 2 types of lion mounts, if you purchased the collector's edition. I'm not sure if you had to pre-order or not.. But, I would check /claim and stuff. =)

Anyway, the developers recently upgraded mounts (I'm not sure if they upgraded all mounts), but with lots of them.. You can start and stop riding almost instantaneously. Their run speed increased by a whole lot too.

Ahhh ok...then the Pally horse is an AA one. Thank you, amastropolo. :)

I did get the lion mount...but what I wanted to know is how to combine the ornate barding with my original horse. I keep reading it can be done, but I don't know how. Before I left EQ years ago I *thought* an original horse could be traded in for a "newer model" so to speak and pay the difference in price. With the lion, and already having purchased a horse in the past, I don't want to purchase another horse, but if I have the free ornate barding, at least I'd like to make the horse look nicer...heh. :)
