Ok so I havent played eq since 2006 so almost 6 years now...I have tried every damn mmo out to date since that time and have not found any worth half a crap imo.

So my question I've read up on what ive missed thus far and was reading they put in progressive servers as a potential returning player this obviously no doubt interests me quiet a it. Are they playing on opening a fresh new one anytime soon or if not or dont know when was the last one opened? I left at depths of darkhollows right before PoR came out so if i could pick up there it wouldnt be to bad either.

And I'm more then certain but just to be sure my beloved necro can still solo like a madman nowadays correct? mercs only should make it easier imo.

And lastly has the pop of people been declining lately or stil pretty steady?

Current progression servers are in Luclin (Fippy) or about to be (Vulak). Population there remains strong, but is spread out. Levelling solo is really slow to what anyone playing after about Velious era back in the day was used to.

It will be some time before they open a new one (no word on this) since that would scavenge population off the existing 2.

There really isn't anything to pick up at Prophecy of Ro. What I mean is on the regular servers the playerbase is mostly 80+ and doing the more recent content. 1-79 is pretty dead population wise.

Necros can certainly still solo past 70. I haven't gotten into the 80+ game on my necro, but other forums make it sound like aggro-kiting has become very limited in viability (there's lots of root-rotting talk --bleh). You'll want to look into that for yourself though.

Population is pretty much the core players in the core guilds they have been in for a while. Sometimes this means 11 year old guilds with 250 members and only 3 regular players. Bristlebane had decent population last I played there. Povar seemed smaller to me but was nice people. Drinal and Luclin servers get a lot of attention on these boards at least.

Welcome back.
