I am more of the solo laid back type player, occasionally i do group, what i like to know which is best to go with when soloing Druid and Merc Warrior OR Shaman and Merc Warrior? I have played both classes in past but now i am back and starting all fresh new on FV so no cash, gear ect.. and now there is mercs to use, I just need little help to know which of the two classes works best for the merc warrior that makes my solo laid back life in the game easy, yes i am lazy rofl

Between those two choices, I would favor the Shaman since it provides slows and buffs for your tank which will be a big increase to any dps it will do. Of course with a fresh start it is the merc who will be PLing you up until the 60-70 range, but it'll be that much deadlier in that range with a shammy buffing it out.

I totally forgot all about a cleric and merc warrior, would that be better than the shaman with merc warrior. i know the big PLUS with cleric and merc warrior vs Undead= mad destruction lol But on serious note, shamans has more buffs than cleric, plus they can charm pets and also later summon pets so that makes my 2 man party a 3 player party ( shaman, merc war and pet) I looked at the cleric spell list, thye do bring alot to the table that is nice but to me it seems shaman still be better for my playstyle since i solo , so looks like it be shaman/merc war. if anyone has any comments n the cleric veiw i be welcome to read them, Thank You

I have both Cleric and Shaman with tank mercs. I have also boxed paladin with Cleric and shaman.

I would say the Shaman with slows can be more effective and require less healing on the tank.
With the cleric you have a better chance of keeping the tank alive if you have multi adds or hard hitting mobs.
The Shaman pet is nice added damage, but can not really hold up on its own.

I realize I'm a *bit* biased Smiley: grin but I prefer the Druid as the "Swiss Army Knife of EQ." I recall when I was around 30ish or so, an older Druid told me that Druids are weaker in earlier levels but then become very powerful later. I found this to be so (playing Old World back in the day with no mercs) at around the 55ish level - or whenever it is we start getting good healing spells. I began my druid over 7 years ago, taking years off here and there, have created, played to about 20, then deleted most other races/classes, but still find I prefer the Druid for the overall versatility (all the obvious plus porting/tracking, etc.).

I'm now level 80 and wouldn't trade my druid for any class. She has a Journeyman tank merc which is working out well. My first created toon is my High Elf Pally so she'll never be deleted either; she uses a wizard merc.

The age-old advice is to play whatever class you most enjoy. Especially now with mercs, most classes can solo fairly effectively.

Oh - I'm on FV as well so feel free to send a tell my way if you need some buffs, porting, or just to say hi. My druid is Terrillian and my Pally is Azalysa. I plan to be on my Pally the most beginning tomorrow with double xp weekend to get her to level 59. (Yes I created her over 7 years ago. I enjoy the journey. *grins*)
