Hello all im a 78 paladin that just returned,and boy am i lost not sure what spells to use where to go,i think i am decently equipped i have 2.0 nightbane and and loot from porthios and items of that level i went to direwind and was able to solo there,any suggestions on what to read or what to do?

My Paladin is only level 60, so I can't be much help for your level. If you haven't already, the one thing I would recommend is obtaining a mercenary. Everyone has various ideas of what type of merc to use. For my Paladin, I was advised to get a DPS merc so I initially hired a rogue then switched to a Journeyman level wizard. As a soloer, the wizard merc, especially on "Burn" mode, helps me kill more mobs in a shorter amount of time.

Last I've seen, pallies were still calling http://crucible.samanna.net/index.php home, you can probably find a lot of class specific information and help there.

This is a bit late and I'm sure you've found somewhere comfortable to hunt. But that being said, Ruins of Illsalin is a paladin playground till around 87. I was swarming the mobs there for aa in the 80s, but in the 70s you could solo singles and doubles. Try it with and without a merc (ymmv).
For a spell lineup try 3 stuns, Ward of Tunare, Trial for Honor, Benediction, and Burial Rites.

So true! My HE Paladin was my very first EQ-created character back in 1999 but I switched to a druid when I started getting bogged down trying to travel with the heavy armor. When I switched she was level 36. After I returned last summer, I've been having fun with her again due to the merc addition. LOVE my first Holy Steed; now I can ride like the wind!
