SoE did the right thing:

Smedley Speaks on Mac

Win for the small, passionate Mac playerbase is a win for us all.

I applaud SoE for keeping the server. I don't play on Al`Kabor, but I can see why so many people are happy. The whole community, as a whole, is smaller than most mmorpg's out there.. and we can't afford to lose any of us! =)

Great news indeed,

Thanks SOE for not abandoning any of the playerbase no matter how small or large they are. As sometimes it is little things like this that inspires confidence in an organization.

Thanks again to Mr. Smedley for starting the poll which gave hope to those on the Al'Kabor server.

That's probably the best action SOE has taken for PR/Comunity relations in the last 5 years (heck, maybe even 10).

I don't play EQMAc, but I recognize the close-knit community for the experience those players have on their server. It is unlike anything we can do on live servers, and is something that I'm sure all the EQ Emu's want to be.

Gratz Al'Kabor players on keeping your server. Some may say it seems like you guys cried and moaned until you got what you want. But I think you all presented your case very maturely, and kept it focused on the unique experience and community you all have there.

Excellent news, odds are I'll still never log into Al'Kabor personally, but it's a really pleasing turn of events for the community as a whole.

I'd say that I agree with you... but I that's probably obvious due to my other recent posts.

But I had to post due to you dinging sage in this thread.

One more deserving promotion! /salute Saeel

Sorry for my ignorance, but can Windows users log into the mac server?

Not that I know of, I think you'd have to own a Mac to play there. =/ Don't quote me on that though. =)

You can't play it on windows, unfortunately. I suspect if you could, the playerbase for that server would skyrocket.

(Thanks everyone.)

I'm really glad to see the server staying open. I had a stint on the server for a while, and the community is unbelievably tight-knit. Moments after creating my first character, I received a tell from someone welcoming me to the server and a nice chat. Despite the desire to close the Mac server being completely reasonable on Sony's part, it really felt like a family was being smashed.
