Monk 1HB / 2HB / Hand to Hand / MartialFollow

#1 Apr 02 2012 at 11:10 PM Rating: Decent
I have a question about Monk weapons.

My Monk just hit 95 and has about 1.25 K AAs.

Currently, I prefer 1 HB / Hand to Hand / Martial Weapons because of the Damage / Ratio.
My current weapons have a 3.7 (dmg bonus 23) ratio.
I am not sure if I should invest my AAs into 2HB now.
The dmg/delay on 2HB is much lower. At what point will a 2HB do more dmg? Or will it ever (when i max aas on 2HB extra hits)?
What would happenif I get a 168/36 (dmg bonus 82)like Emperor Crushs Mattock with ratio 4.6?

I always group with my Shammy (95), so while running Talisman of Lion maybe 2 weapons will always do more damage ?

Thanks for your advise...

The quick way to compare dual wield weapons to two handers, is do the ratio on the 2Her then compare that to the sum of the ratio of the primary weapon + 1/2 the ratio of the secondary. Assuming you mean a dual wield weapon like mesmerizing ripper which is 67/18 for both slots, then 3.72+1.86=5.58 or greater 2Her ratio would finally be better. Higher delay 2Hers however, will have increased damage bonus, and thus make the actual parsing seem better than a same ratio but lower delay 2Her.

Assuming another 36 delay 2Her, you'd want something of at least 201 damage. Without the AAs, though, you'd probably want 250+ dmg to make up for the lack of 2H AAs until you get them.

If you're premium Alla member, you can search and sort by Weapon Efficiency which in general is more accurate than the method I just explained because it takes into consideration dmg bonus as well as other factors.

You can see the details of the Weapon Efficiency formula at http://eq.zam.com/itemhelp.html

Hope this helps some,

Thank you for the very good and fast answer.

I currently use

Glorious Infused Reinforced Barbed Mace (48/26 + 23) with Numinous Nimble Symbol of the Skeptic (Dmg 52)
so it becomes Dmg 100 / Delay 26 + Bonus 23. Ratio 3,85 and

Claws of the Bane (73/20 + 23) Ratio 3,65

Didnt see the heave weight for a Monk on the mace...but for now i am ok.

So i would need a 2hb with a better ratio than 5,675.

The best (buyable) 2HB is a Soldiers Weighted Staff with 172/35 Bonus 80 (Ratio 4,91)
The best (Non Raid) 2HB would be the Julazirs Brazen Gavel with 214/36 Bonus 82 (Ratio 5,61)

As a summary for me 2HB is nearly useless. Special when i keep in mind that its is much easier (for me ) to get a

Hand to Hand
Dream Destroyers Hand (74/20 + 23) with Ratio 3,7
Mesmerizing Ripper (67/18 + 23) with Raio 3,72
Glorious Infused Weapon with Numinous Nimble of XXX with around Ratio 3,8 (on my Server 40k together)

1HB
difficult to get i think, but

Mace of Forgiveness 102/26 +23 (Ratio 3,92)
Shadowborn Hammer 95/24 + 23 (Ratio 3,96)
Mossy Cudgel 83/20+23 (Ratio 4,15) of Beasts Domain, Bonecruncher

Will try for the Mossy Cudgel....

I am a bit disappoointed about 2HB for us little Monks....

Did i forget something or made a mistake?

Regards Taifun

Your math is correct. I'm not sure on any better non-raid 2Hers for Monks, but there are better than the needed ratio raid 2Hers for Monks. Raid 2HB is what I had to get on my Ranger until I got a comparable to Epic 2.0 off-hand weapon.

This inequality may be due to the developers considering dmg augs for weapons, as many 2Hers now have low 20ish delays with very high damage, and an 8 or higher damage aug may make it considerably better comparatively. Just a thought, as I'm not up on the newest weapons (or items) from the last couple of expansions.

If you find stuff that is close, you may want to consider any bane dmg, or elemental dmg in your ratios. I generally go with full dmg when considering bane, as well as not including it, for when I might be killing the bane mob or not, respectively, and generaly 1/2 the elemental dmg (or 1/3 or 1/4 for Fire dmg, as many mobs have fairly high Fire resist). Phys dmg, I generally go full, as it rare to have a mob resist it any more than they mitigate base weapon damage.

Sorry, this post wasn't more helpful.
