Next Expac: Time for something completely differentFollow

Every once in a while someone on a forum half-seriously mentions it... but really it should just be done. Let's have an entire expac based on Bristlebane having fun.

All the new zones could be "Mischiefed" off other great places in Norrath (What if the kobolds took over Paineel, the Gunthak Pirates invaded Qeynos, a raid where your mission is to prank Mata Muram, not kill him, etc.)...

...Think of the idiotic invasions (i.e., level 100 brownies all over Faydwer), the rabbits...

...the goofy firepots, trees and other wierd ports that you have to know to use...

...halflings getting new classes due to the "blessing of Bristlebane"...

...quest arcs involving thieving and sneaking and pranking (oh my!) and goofy illusion items into old-world cities for actual desirable gear...

...crazy cleric (etc.) 2.0...

...and the crowing glory, a dev that "gets it" using the Mac server, emu or whatever source code required (they don't need the code it self really, but they need to login and play it and get the concept again. It was unique...) to create a proper PoM 3.0 that is NOT a grind/kill zone. Make it all about the cards again, with 2 paths of acquisition (raid being efficient and predictable, group/solo being a much longer time sink and/or not quite the same final result).

I would be in favor something completely different. And something involving Faydwar. *grin*

Bristlebane has always been my favorite.. It's about time they bring him out into the limelight. ;)

I'm all for it as long as they move the zonein to PoM OUT OF Great Divide. Never liked that move. Was great in the old days when you had to make a crazy hectic "suicide run" thru NToV to get to the zone. It was so hard that once there casters would set their bindpoint inside PoM and keep it there for a long time just to avoid ever having to do that run again. Unfortunate for melees and hybrids, of course... ;)

There's room for debate over how good or bad is VoA but I doubt anyone can argue it's going to be a "memorable" expansion.

As I've wished for in other threads, a new expansion with content for everyone and possibly even a new race and/or class would be GREAT. But a new class is not going to happen because of the ultimate bugaboo: BALANCING. A new race is unlikely because of all the complications in terms of lore and backstory and all the extra design work to come up with tons of new models, city and landscape designs, etc. Zones for every level... could happen but probably won't because I don't think Sony would see a "return" sufficient to justify the extra costs of designing multiple lower-level zones.

But we can all dream, can't we?
