Well, I am one for change....so I will give the new forum style a chance.
One big problem since the last time they made changes was that SoE merged Housing and Tradeskills together. It is hard to try to keep up with the Jones’, in housing. Lot of player use the discussion area for trade skill information, hints and short cuts. More so then Housing uses it to show off their houses and ask questions about how certain things they are trying to achieved. So Housing gets lost in the numerous posts that are place with trade skills. Both are important and both should have their own thread LIKE BEFORE. Lot of players have argued this but SoE seems to ingore, including the 2nd post on this new forum. So for this reasons “the Italian Judge” Vinney gives the new forums a TWO THUMBS DOWN award at this time.
Lot of player's into housing are using the specific forum on EQ Resource. Seems to be a little easier for us housing guys and gals to Display, ask question and get ideas on.
And for a shameless plug, come visit Vinney's PeaceKeepers Guild and 16 house in Cedar Country Meadows, Zek. No PKing till level six.

I dislike it so far as well. I use large fonts and you can't see half the page info 'cause of it, and the contrast is horribly low, and if you have gamma set correctly, it's (the text is) completely washed out looking, other than the graphic background.

However, they still haven't added custom avatars, and it's only been a few hours, so I'm hopeful it will get better. And hope you housing nuts, like Vinney, get your own forum, like you should have.

I'm probably going to spend part of the night trying to setup a custom CSS for the site to fix some of the problems, though I doubt I will put much effort into it, and just quit using it if they don't fix some of the things themselves.

I'll give the new EQplayers forums a huge thumbs down also...

As I also find that they have lumped too many categories together, maybe for the forum moderators convenience but at the expense of the playerbase.

Though I dont like change as much in general, especially if the change is worse than before (being an old stubborn forty something year old player).
Sadly, I have not used the EQ players forums as much for a couple years now...

Still waiting on the once promised but now phantomlike "new EQ players leaderboards"....Even the "site in progress" button was ninja removed...

I would have to give it a big 2 thumbs down simply because I cannot seem to log into them anymore.

I click to log in, put in the information and then it takes me to a Sign Up page.

Asks me to put in a name to be used on the forums and to click an Agree to the terms. I do that and gives an Error about Cookies.

Tried deleting all old cookies that had the EQ website attached to em and still same thing. So.. boo on SOE.

Sounds like a protection app preventing cookies from being saved. If it's your browser doing the blocking, you can make an exception for forums.station.sony.com or simply sony.com to cover everything there.

Don't know if that's the problem or not, just sounded like it. Hope it helps.

EDIT: Never got around to the CSS other than looking at their's and they are a mess, with tons of different colors many very similar and only different by a few single digits. I did try browser custom colors and it actually looked alot better, but still screwy in spots (maybe a dark gray background, as I only tried black and white ones).

Putting an exception didn't work yesterday so I just said to heck with em. Today though, I registered in Chrome and their was no mention of cookies this time so it looks like they got on the problem and fixed it.

I personally don't like the new forums. I much prefer that they didn't change anything. Why fix it when it wasn't broken? The only thing that was wrong with the old forums was the login issue (logging you out after 5 minutes, instead of leaving you logged in all day). These new forums, although pretty to look at, don't suit me.

The sad part is if you Google something like "Bard song line up at 95" links to old forum posts populate the search but the threads don't exist anymore. A lot of good info lost.

You can get to them, it's just alot of work. If you can get the full url from the results page (most of the time not), you can copy it, and paste it and replace /eq/ with /eqold/ to get to the old post, but more likely, you'll have to copy the google url and paste it, and edit out all of the google stuff, then replace the /eq/ with /eqold/ in the sony part of the url to get there. And then this will only work while they keep the archive up.

Hopefully those working on backups are almost done, and will have google scour their sites.

Temporary archive at http://forums.station.sony.com/eqold/ and you can use the search there too, while it's up.

It seems kind of silly to me to have the archive be temporary when there's such a huge repository of knowledge available within it. It's like they don't want people to learn about their game.

yeap, you are no longer able to reference old post. A lot of information lost and a lot of time and effort. I am now posting any of my house information and having to rebuild all the different post I had toward the Housing forums to here: EQ Reference If SoE was a NFL football team they would be leading the league in fumbles. So Sad
