I have been playing on test since 08 and I have a 70 cleric on FV from a while ago. I have thought about seeing if there was guilds on FV that still raided and was wanting to know if clerics are still decent to play. It seemed they were useless after mercs came out and quit playing mine. Should I start over on FV on with a new toon or just suck it up on test.

all (as far as I know) raids do not allow mercs. So Clerics are valuable to Raiding Guilds.

A real cleric blows a merc out of the water at later levels.

Sure at low levels like 70 it may seem like the merc can perform better, but once you begin getting into more current content the real Cleric seriously outshines the merc.

And only real clerics can be in raids, which is what you seemed to want anyway.

I play a cleric, however I do seem to notice the merc clerics rarely seem to miscast spells, get interrupted, or fizzle. That said player cleric can be more adaptable than a merc, and yes they are needed in raid guilds.

Probably not. Though I do have a level 3 toon there. I am in a large guild, non raiding, and the guild leader and I actually know each other in non eq life. Though neither of us knew that when I started talking about the guild to her.
Going thru another period of ehh in game, narrowed it down to Courtin most of the time, Jonwin when i can box, and the occasional appearance of the ranger and Bl.
