I noticed I was running real low on plat whenever I came home while my war sat in the guild hall thru the evening while i was at work. My merc was suspended but I was still getting charged the upkeep. I thought suspend would not take plat from me. But I also notice quite a few mercs unsuspended in the guild hall. Are folks paying the upkeep? How do I not pay the upkeep?

Hello,

My guess would be that most have their Mercs on the "passive stance" (a.i. setting) when hanging out in the guild lobby, Plane of Knowledge etc, so they wont get charged for upkeep every 15 mins.

Good luck.

When you put your merc on passive mode, it will take out for the current 15 min period, then not take out any more plat from your account. If that is, it is working. Sometimes I have seen it continue to take out plat, but most times it stops. Don't forget to put merc back on active when you leave the hall or pok.

In the Guild Hall/Lobby (or,I think, POK) set your Merc to passive (click Passive then Set Active button). After one Time cycle (I notice, sometimes, that is two charges). you should start to see the normal message about you being charged X plat and the merc timer being reset CHANGE to your merc waiving said charge and the timer being reset.

The OP's question was that he's getting charged, but the merc is suspended. That's a different situation, and it sounds like a bug.

I do have a question.... I have seen a situation recently where the merc won't zone with me. He still shows up in a group slot, but it's grayed out, like for group members who go LD or are in a different zone. If I look at the merc window when this happens, the button says "suspend", so the game thinks the merc is active. I have to suspend then wait 5 minutes to re-activate it, or camp and log back in.

If this was the case for the OP, then I can see the game charging you all night in the GL. The merc never goes to Passive mode, cause it's really not there.

If this is what happened to the OP, then suspend or log to fix it. If this isn't what happened to the OP, then it's a bug that should be reported.

I run into that from time to time. Interestingly enough, I have 3 accounts and only 1 of the 3 ever has that issue. The toon that the merc disappears on is on my only Silver account (other 2 are gold). Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Regardless, it is a bug.
