I have cable internet at 18 mbps and I am downloading eq through the patcher. It is taking forever if there is away to buy the game or download trough a browser such as internet explorer can someone please let me know. I am thinking perhaps the router might be the problem as it is an old one about 5 years so might have to upgrade to the new g/n one.

The patcher sometimes overestimates the time needed. The game size is about 10GB and you can download it to any device and copy the folder and subfolders. It's all self-contained. The disc versions are old and will require many GBs of patching even with their use.

If you don't have problems with slow downloads elsewhere it most likely is just the patcher overestimating. Still it takes about 8hrs, give or take, with high speed.

If it's still showing low progress (graphic bar) after an hour or more, you might try posting on the EQ support forum at http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/ about it, as maybe there's a problem on their end.

Hope this helps some,

Yther Ore.

18mb/sec d/l speed is more than adequate for EQ.

For instance, my connection speed is 2 mbps d/l and 1 mbps u/l and it takes about 1-2 hours to load EQ on a new computer..And this is from the Caribbean, so the packets have to travel a longer distance.

This is using the old diskset (EQ - Titanium Edition 5 disc set from 2005 iirc) to start the process, after which the new patcher automatically overwrites the old one that was default on the discs.

I believe that if you go anywhere else to purchase the game, you will still have to activate it from the SOE-EQ patcher anyways. As they no longer sell the game from discs or "over the counter".

I have 3 computers each with different windows and browsers and they all work fine with EQ..Including one older Dell XPS600 desktop with IE8 and windows XP.

My advice would be to d/l directly from the EQ site. Maybe it is your router or switch if applicable, though mine is over 5 years old and handles the game fine.

Good luck.

I HIGHLY recommend you just let it run, this may help - let it run it as administrator (assuming you're running Visa or later) or even just let it run overnight, since yo ucan't play while you sleep anyways :)

I downloaded EQ just this evening on my laptop. Took about an hour to get the whole game. It was really fast. I remember doing it long ago and it would run over night and still be going.
