How'd the weekend go for everyone?

I spent some time in Muramite Proving Grounds and RSS over the weekend, going from 73 to 74 in them. Ultimately I didn't find them too rewarding for the hassle of fleeing mobs (especially RSS where adds while fleeing were common) and eventually wrote them off. Did get the old hotzone aug out of RSS though so there's that.

Spent some time with Snailish's enchanter in Wall of Slaughter before he decided to start Project Troll Smiley: grin

Went from 74 to 75 in (sigh) Infected Paw. Actually, it wasn't so bad especially since I didn't need the healer merc any longer and my pet could handle multiple mobs. Was amazed at how lame most of my lvl 75 spells are. Got to throw on a few bits of Req. 75 gear I got the other week in Frostcrypt and realized that my Sweeper was going to go obsolete next level. Went to Zhisza and camped the Stonecarver. Although I managed to solo Holloweyes (who dropped the melee cloak, natch) Stonecarver was a little over my paygrade and I had to call in a guildie to help. Luckily, Stonecarver dropped the pet foci and I can happily never enter Zhisza again.

A guildie was working on her 2.5 aug and needed help in the Dreadspire instance so I headed there, traversing The Hive for the first time. Thankfully, some higher level folk did all the real work and I just benefited from their brawn. We killed the named gargoyle (x3) but didn't have the manpower to attempt the rest of it. Got some aug from a named along the way... guess the silver lining to being "underlevel" is that no one else cares about the lvl 75ish raid drops. Want to head back to Dreadspire for the old hotzone aug but we'll have to see... not looking forward to the Hive again and I didn't get a chance to try and get the individual flag for the alternate entry.

Oh, somewhere in there I visited Nadox and killed Innoruuk just 'cause. Old times... old times... I forgot that you clear the room to spawn Inny and thought you killed the High Priest. So naturally I clear the room to get rid of adds and then while I'm distracted he spawns on me. Despite the unsteady start, I managed to take him down. He dropped the haste cloak which I ran my lvl 48 ranger in to loot. Yay!

My first goal whenever in DSK, is to get a Formal Dinner Invitation, so I can bypass the hive and zone in from Stoneroot Falls statue (In westkorlach_2.txt file paste P -1584.6403, -959.2567, 62.7336, 0, 0, 127, 3, DSK). Way easier to zone in once you use the invitation on the statue once, then you get a /key flag for zoning in there whenever you want (just remember when you zone out of DSK, you still zone into the Hive).

And Oh, I guess my War always had a snare proc, and all my other toons can snare some how too, or I'm with a druid or Shd that can snare there (RSS). If I would of thought about it, I would of mentioned it, 'cause runners are bad there.
Congrats on the levels though.

As far as game goes, I keep debating on whether to get power leveled as Silver on a normal server, then work on AAs if I go gold, or just transfer over to Test and work on them, or use my already Test character to earn the levels and AAs myself. Just haven't decided. At least I've been hanging out in game a little bit more. Talking to people in general every once in a while. Still not doing anything significant. Occasionally, I'll test something out in game, but only if only takes 10-15minutes.

Yeah, I'll make that Priority A next time I'm there but I wasn't about to hold up the group for my flagging. I had hoped to go back into Dreadspire when we were done and get that accomplished but unfortunately we wiped and wound up rezzing in Guild Lobby.

Well, this was a good weekend. I leveled my 71 group to 75...using a 100 warrior. Smiley: tongue 71 PAL ROG WIZ MAG DRU in Loping Plains. Once I got that done, I went into my savings and geared them up in Solteris stuff. I also moved my 80 Bard from Cazic Thule over to FV so now I have two 80 Bards (though one is going up to 85 or 90 soonish). After that, I moved on to the part of EQ I despise like nothing else in gaming.

Tradeskills.

The now-75 rogue has yet to do her 2.0. Why? Because it's heavy on tradeskill requirements. I was going to wait until she had AA to waste on Mastery skills and Salvage but that's not likely to happen anytime soon (she has like 200 AA right now so she's about 4k or so AA from having AA to burn). So barring that, I figured I'd max out her poisonmaking skill. Despite having two rogues with 300 skill already, I wanted her to be able to make her own poisons. So I went to get the trophy quest (beginner, since her skill was only 54) and found a part that I truly dislike about the EQLive team. Features are regularly completely ignored once implemented....unless those features turn out to be advantageous to players (hi shrouds). The tradeskill trophy quests were added so long ago and never updated. In the years since, tons of crap has been added to the loot tables of mobs and those things crowd out the drops that used to be common/uncommon and are now ridiculously rare. All of the old armor quest pieces and the smithing/tailoring pieces (X silk, X animal pelt) and defiant and various other parts (uncut gems, etc) that drop and it becomes a lesson in tedium to get a spider venom sac from a freakin' spider! And we won't even go into 'a cistern asp' and the rarity of the asp poison sac. Luckily I met a senior rogue who gave me the way to instaspawn asps. But I'm not optimistic about the other stuff I have to get (including one that only drops off Snow Orc Shaman in Everfrost and another that mainly drops off vengeful skeletons in EF). I said bump that and started raising her skill and now she's at 271 and I'm willing to bet she'll still be able to fail these combines that are 200+ skill levels below her. So I'll have to farm up more than just one of each, which is annoying.

So most of my week will be wasted spent on tradeskills since in addition to maxing out the rogue, I still have to get my SK's tailoring up so she can attempt her next epic combine. It's funny. It took me an hour to get her orb (she got it herself, with the rest of my 90 group) but the rest of the quest will take weeks (mainly due to the tradeskills. I already have most of the drops).

But the goal for the weekend was to get the 70ish group to the point where they can group with the 90 group in Beza/Zeka/Mech Guardian so that was accomplished. I'm just not looking forward to the next week or so.

A depressing weekend for me. I have two longtime friends in EQ. I started back in 2001 and met them shortly thereafter. The three of us "grew up" together. Recently, one went to a high end guild. I am so happy for her as raiding is and always has been her passion. A loss for me as I have a laptop that barely lets me move in groups. We still play together, but I always feel guilty as I feel I'm taking away time she could apply more usefully to other endeavors. My other friend told me on Friday that she was done with EQ. I have a long history with her. We met my first week in EQ and she helped immensely as this Noob learned the game. She was a 52 Pally when I met her, but left the Pally to re-roll a Druid. My Pally, her Druid and her husband's Druid had many adventures together. In 2006/7 we left for WoW and played there for a few years until I grew bored with the game and it's atmosphere. I grew to hate the player population there and solo'd mostly when my friends weren't on. I am East coast and they were West coast, so it was hard to co-ordinate play times. I came back to EQ late last year and recently I convinced her to give EQ another try. It was great, but the very, very steep hill of getting AA's frustrated her. Her chars were also totally naked on her return, so gearing them again also frustrated her. To make a long story short, Friday she gave me her password and said to take whatever I wanted from her chars. I couldn't bring myself to do that. It just didn't feel right. Not much was of use to me anyways. She had plat, but again, that felt like ninja looting. Soooooo I spent the weekend looting my chars to totally re-gear her alts, AA'd for her top two chars in the hope of one day luring her back to more well rounded toons.

My chars are getting jealous as they saw very little of Norrath this weekend and they also need a ton of AA's.

Got about half a level on my wizard. All I can say is that level 73 wizards apparently don't solo nearly as well as level 73 mages (grrr...). I'm kinda stuck in a quandary between killing stuff near my level, but taking half a bar of mana to do it (and risking turning into a fine red paste if something goes horribly wrong), or plowing through lt blue stuff. Neither seems to be "fast" by any measure. Kiting is a pain, so I've been doing more of a root and scoot technique (and the instant cast spells rock for that btw). Still, maybe it's just perception, but it honestly seems like my paladin soloed faster in the 70s than my wizard is.

And speaking of comparisons. Why is it that my paladin gets an AA replacement for his root (shackles of tunare), which works great, requires no mana, frees up a spell gem, etc, but my wizard doesn't? Wizards get a "strong root" AA, but that's like a once per 72 minute thing (and it's supposed to be "strong", but seems to break from nuking just like a regular root). It's value is that it opens up the line of AAs that reduces the likelihood of root breaking from damage (which does work kinda, but it's more like instead of breaking every nuke, it's every 2 or maybe 3). But boy would it be nice if I could free up a spell gem instead.

Don't get me wrong, there's something giggly fun about getting 20-25k crits on a character in the low 70 level range, but it seems like mob hp increases across expansions really eats into that a lot. To be fair, I'm sure I'm doing more % damage to mobs now than at lower levels, but for some reason it doesn't feel like I'm moving as fast. Still having fun with the wiz though!

Sorry if the previous sounded criticizing. I don't even think it drops in demi-plane does it? I guess it does. I didn't remember ever seeing one drop while I was raiding there. Sounds like how I plan things. I get an invite, and think I'll camp / park there when done to farm it afterwards, unless that's where we're going to, to start with.

Limited play time due to work.

I finally decided to try my hand at 2 boxing. I transfered my 63 Shaman to an old account that's been wiped clean for reasons I can't remember anymore. Had a pleasant experience with SOE for the transfer, took only 1 day, no ***** ups and the people I dealt with were pleasant and cheerful.

Some basic research gave me a few buttons to allow for easy casting where needed as I struggle to learn how to play with two computers at once. The shaman is played on a 10 inch netbook I bought as my daughters first laptop a couple years ago. With everything in game and every non vital process turned off It can passibly play EQ.

Took a couple hours to get the shaman to 66 in WoS with my 73 SK. I plan to get him a few more levels and a whole lot of AA's as I increase my boxing skills.

Good kinda, my classes were cancelled due to hurricane Ingrid, so I got a bit of time to play.

I decided to start an Iksar warrior because I've always wanted to do the Pike quest series, I blazed through the tutorial and then went off to Cabilis, got my Partisan's Pike, and then began the upgrade quest which I screwed up because there's an npc that spawns when you turn in a pie, and he immediately runs off. I ended up losing sight of him and had to look around for a froglok escort to get another pie. Anyways I finished that and got my Militia Pike, I went off to do the next part, but I couldn't because the quest is currently broken due to a broken prompt.

Whenever you tell Drill Master Vygan that you want a geozite tool, he will just keep asking you if you want the tool, rather than giving you the stuff you need to start that quest. So I petitioned about it, the GM told me that he couldn't do anything, and that I should file a bug report. So I did that, and now I'm just waiting for it to be fixed.

In the middle of a hurricane, whee!

That sucks. I originally looked at those AA's like "Pffftt... why would I take that?" but I've bought the Perfect Invis, Gate and Call of the Hero AA's and it's like having an extra two spell gems to never have to memorize invisibility or Gate again. I use CotH less often but still nice not to have to re-memorize it. Pro-Tip: It's a LOT easier to get someone to come to Zhisza if you say you can CotH them across the hellish mazescape which is Katta.

No offense taken. According to Alla's it drops in the Demi-Plane but it didn't do so for us. Not looking forward to crossing the Hive again but I would like to get the flag and the old hotzone aug that drops there.

Heh... while in Zhisza and fighting Shissar last night, I flashed back to getting the Greenmist on my SK and thought "She would totally own these guys!" Smiley: laugh

^I love this idea KC13.

So refreshing to get beaten to starting the weekend update :)

Friday night (as mentioned by Jophiel) we grouped in Wall of Slaughter. Like any situation with a lower level enchanter... I didn't contribute a whole bunch. It was the first time I had grouped since I came back to the game (lol) and it was a nice change of pace. I'm really not sure I want to level the chanter at all, but am enjoying settling back into the game with the familiar class.

I did roll my new troll SK named Banner. The fact that I got the name got me way more excited for the idea than I might have been. I've posted about him in a different thread so I won't go on.

Good info! I'm on the last two parts, but need to up my smithing skills. Last time I checked, you could lose the geozite tool on a failed combine. Not sure if that's been fixed over the years or not. Last combine I made was back in 2006

Oh, for sure. I've got gate, abscond, and evac AAs as well as perfected invis. I had the same view initially as well "why spend AAs for something I have spells for", but the advantage of not having to mem the spells *ever* is huge (ok. Evac I would once I use it cause it's instant cast but has a longish refresh, but that's only an issue in a group, and we've already had to evac once).

It actually took awhile for my paladin to do that with his root and DA spells. But when I started getting some new spell lines (the various heal targets target and do some other nifty thing as well spells), the value of moving those off the spell gem bar and onto hotkeys totally justified it. It's just annoying that for my wiz, the spells I get AA replacements for are largely spells I wont have loaded up all the time anyway. I might dedicate one spell gem for gate/evac/TL/whatever at any given time and just drop in whatever spell I think I'll need at the time. For invis I'll mem that when traveling from place to place and just replace one of my nuke spots, but I don't keep it there while fighting. So even though it's nice having them all available, I don't actually get more spell gems to use. I guess it's "enough", but just barely so. Can't wait for more spell gem slots to open up. But I'm sure I'll need more then too.
