I have chars ranging from 30 to 75, and am getting very bored AAing. Can anyone suggest some fun quests for items that are unusual or rare. I don't care if they're useful or have mega stats. Just looking for something different to do that might result in items you don't see every day. I tried the DE SK newbie armor quest but while I'm bored, I'm not willing to trade my sanity to finish it.Smiley: lol

Luggald Flesh is one of several barely ever done Legacy of Ykesha era questlines.

Talk to a Marsinger in Greater Faydark.

Look at the quest listing for Plane of Sky . These are hardly done as they are hard and the rewards have charges.

The Wizzy aggro stick quest is one that I have always wanted to do (just need to play a wizard...). Temple of Solusek Ro is an old-school questing hub...

The coldain shawl questline was seldom done for a long time... but then they upgraded it. You could do the ring war or go for eyepatch from a frozen gnome .

Pick any starting city... say Halas and look at the quest list here on Zam. There's tons of quests... value for time spent will vary.

The epic 1.0 comes to mind.

The cabilis "epics" such as this are some of the best written quests in the game.

An appeal though... if you do some quests that no one has posted anything on in years... please put an update here on alla. Sometimes you feel like a quest is broken and one person posting within a few years of you trying can give you the optimism to keep at it. Good luck!

Thank you! I have done the Staff of Temperate Flux as well as the upgraded Staff of Elemental flux. I have done a ton to Temple of Sol Ro quests as well as most of the home city quests. I agree regarding the Cabilis quests. I have completed the one you linked on both my Vah Shir and Iksar Beastlords and have my Iksar Warrior in the final stages of the pike series. I had an Iksar SK at level 30 and working on the Kukri series, but with a few other Iksars, I deleted him and rerolled as a DE. Now also at 30. I'll be sure to check out the others you mentioned.

I have enjoyed your posts on Banner, so have rolled up a Troll Warrior to level the real old way. No tutorial, no Defiant (other than to vendor for Backpack money). He is now 4 and keeps tripping over Banner's corpse in Grobb. Smiley: lol He has a rusty sword, Netted shoulders, neck and hands so far. Cannot get those darn Frogloks to drop any meat however to prove my worth to my Guildmaster.

The Paladin epic 1.0 is relatively rare, since it some of the drops are either very rare or hard to get (the Book of Scale requires drops from dragons that drop cloaks of flame and crystalline water.....) and you even have to find a mob in the widely farmed Plane of Fear.

You could do the luclin "epic" earring quest.https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=1667

I imagine the weapon Greenmist is quite rare now https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=7029

It's not just that they're hard, but that many of them will require a full group/raid just to get to the mobs that drop the stuff you need. DT mobs kinda put a wrinkle in everything. If you don't already have the keys, or know a necro who does, you're basically stuck at Pegasus island as your end point no matter what level you are relative to the mobs (or bring a group). I don't know how many of the quest drops you need can drop prior to that end point. So some might, but some likely cannot. I seem to recall that a lot of the key quest drops started dropping on Spiroc Isle. I'm sure that wasn't accidental either.

Yeah. Did that one (and the follow up one) ages ago. Not terribly hard, and the reward is something a wizard will use all the way up to level 100. A non damage instant click agro/debuff ability? Always worth having.

You could do the symbol quests if you have a cleric or shaman character, I just made an inny worshipping dark elf cleric to have this snare clicky. I think only innoruuk and tunare's symbols have a third iteration.

Another fun item is the Bracer of Hammerfal, but you need to do a lot of factioning for it.

And if you're a very bored person like me you can make a level 1 wizard and get him/her this robe . All you need is to take your wizard to Kael to loot the robe, get the gems, and turn in about 20-40 giant helms to get the faction to do the quest.

This is one I will do, better start factioning another char for Cabilis!

Fun quests except for the drop in LFay for the Tunare symbol.

Start here to get your very own Bixie slaying weapon!

Be sure to include this neato weapon aug to add bling to the thing!

Really fun quest, and few do it. When I got my Paladin his 2HS version (several years ago) and linked it to my RL brother (who's been playing since, like, beta) he said he'd never seen on in game before that.

I did Greenmist years ago on my Erudite Shadowknight. I figured it was part of our shared legacy as Cazicites. The overall quest was pretty good, I can't say the same about farming a bajillion bone chips for faction. I guess (per the other thread) you can buy them directly in unlimited quantities now and in stacks of 100 so that'd make it a lot less painful.

My 55 Enchanter has done the Hero's Journey. He only has a few quests to go in order to complete everything up to and including the Mesa. These were fun quests indeed.

It's the reason I still use the "Lightbringer" title on my paladin. Nowadays, it's a lot easier to just bypass 1.0 and get 1.5 and 2.0, so it's kinda more of an accomplishment to have completed the FD quest. Since none of them are weapons you're likely to use (other than the clickies on the latter two), it's really all more of a prestige thing anyway. Oh. Also, there's a quest you can do that allows you to change the appearance of any weapon to make it look like your epic (whichever ones you've completed). So another reason to do this is so that you can make whatever uber weapon you're using look like a flaming sword.

I'll also point out that it's not as bad to complete today as it used to be. Those mobs aren't farmed nearly as much as they used to be. Take a look at the Kunark dragons that can drop the books. Occasionally, they'll just be up with no one killing them. Occasionally...

PoF bit is a plus minus. On the plus side, odds are you wont have to break into Fear yourself. But if some idiot killed your turn in mob instead of leaving it alone, you're stuck. Most of the time, quest mobs should be there, but you never know. Some people don't bother to con things before killing them.

I /decayed one corpse in Grobb... and decided it made the zone more alive if I just left them. It's hard to die there, but not... one was from trying to kill a red con mosquito. Another was lagging in geometry into the lava pool in the Sk guild. I was laughing while loading at that one.

Froglok meat isn't super easy when you aren't killing tons of frogs at once (say as a higher level). I have killed more than 50 (probably less than 100) frogloks on Banner and got maybe 6 meats so far.

This is a great thread with a lot of great suggestions; I'm going to be going after a bunch of these. I don't know how common it is, but I'll add my own personal favorite, the featherweight courier satchel for the bard courier quest

I can't remember how long it took to deliver all that mail, but you're running all over the place- as a wizard I just gated all over so it wasn't too long. but it's a 20-slot container with 100% weight reduction which is a game changer. Is it a common item? Does everyone have one?

The quest is relatively recent in regards to the overall game --I didn't even know about it.. Once upon a time a fraction (%25) weight reduction was a really good bag. Many of us used weird crafting containers in our banks just to get 10 slots for storage. If this quest had been in game before the Dragons of Norrath expansion (bags from the crystals stand out as being a change in the container philosphy for the game to me) everyone would have done the quest. Nowadays.... I am sure there are lots that wouldn't bother having tons of bag space from outher sources (i.e., loyalty).

I can't even comprehend it. Imagine a non-teleporting class doing this quest without PoK access? Truth be told I can't imagine what it's like to be playing a non-wizard/druid (druids teleport like wizard, right? what else teleports?) having to actually move from place to place. I'm doing a shroud right now that has no teleporting and it's brutal. Positively brutal.

It depends on how you do it. There are potions, weapons, and spires you can use to get around.

Some of the hugest zones in the game are from the classic-Kunark-Velious era when there was no handy transport (except firepots in some rather out of the way places). When there was 10-25 people in nearly every zone... this made the world feel very real. You didn't go to 3 cities in 5 minutes. You learned where every camp was in West Karana because it had taken you 25 minutes to get there and you didn't want to leave until you got those 3 levels and/or certain item. But it is brutal... this was original vision EQ. When the boats (repeatedly) broke they put translocator gnomes (wizards you hail for a port) in the impacted locations.

Luclin gave us the spires... ever wait for those? It was such an improvement that the nexus became the hub zone of the game. I actually don't mind how they implemented that... I would even shorten the wait time.

Planes of Power gave us Plane of Knowledge... which has been the game hub ever since. It shrank the world immensely, but much of that world was barely being used by then (game was very low-level zone heavy). Dev-time wise (in hindsight) I concede that EQ has too many starting cities to keep coding them with everything that is now found in PoK. Also, PoK functions as a crossroads which 16ish hubs would fail to do. However... I would still have preferred if PoK had wizard npc that ported you (like guild hall) that were factionless but in the world zones themselves you had to be liked by the npc to get a port right near a race's city. Not to say that a neutral port npc couldn't be in the zone too. Ironically, such a model would create logical space for far more zone-points into PoK vs. the static books that make it look like a graveyard.

*and then there is the more recent attempt to newbie hub Crescent Reach, which has been reasonably successful and would be moreso if they made the quest rewards better than defiant.

More importantly, it's impossible to get stuck anywhere now. Used to be that if you were a melee or hybrid class you would be hesitant to travel too far without a guaranteed ride out. Sucked to be in Western Wastes or Lake Rathetear and have the wizard/druid say "Gotta run, sorry" and Gate out. Even worse to be in a zone like Sebilis, Velks or Kaesora. That's why the OT hammer was so crazy popular. But these days there's Origin, Throne of Heroes, the CR clickstick or -- at worst -- camping out and using the Go Home function. There's zero travel risk any longer form a "How do I get home?" point of view. Which, in my opinion, is a good thing despite how different it is from the old days. Being stuck in Siren's Grotto didn't make the game more fun and challenging, it just made it unnecessarily frustrating.

Reading your guys posts makes me envious of the experience of playing through all these formative things; it's kind of a bummer I just got to play. But actually I did play for maybe a month when it was first released; a high elf cleric named Broonsbane (thus the user name) who I got up to about 7th level; this was obviously before there were any expansions at all. So all I really know is the very beginning, and now: and I missed everything in between.

But since all I know is the wizard class, the spires and the PoK books and all of it is redundant and I've not used the spires at all, and rarely use the PoK books. So I have no idea how easy it is for other classes to make use of items and such for ease of travel. I do know that every time I entertain the notion of making a second class, the ability to teleport is always at the forefront of my thoughts; one of the biggest reasons I went with wizard was to be able to teleport and move around- it's just too big of a game environment for me to be able to risj "getting stuck" somewhere. But what would you guys say about travle time for non-teleporting classes? I can honestly say that from a teleporting wizard point of view there have been numerous times I thought during a quest "those poor non-teleporting pcs how horrific this quest must be for them"

I can honestly say that if they said "we're taking PoK out of the game" I'd feel really sorry for non-teleporting players. Even now as a wizard there have been occasional times when I had to run good distances, and on those rare occasions I was like "this really sucks, wizard guild needs to get work on an arch out here"

But aside from wizards, which classes teleport? How would you rank the classes ability to freely move around? I'm sure druids also teleport with the circle of stones I see all over the place. Everyone can at least origin- what movement do the classes have, special move-wise; gate/teleport/etc
