Thanksgiving weekend for Canadians (like me) so not much time in game as I was out having big dinners with family.

Did get my moon-loving druid into the 20s with some fun grouping. The guild is doing well, with 10ish alla posters now participating. A few people have rerolled and/or made an alt which our Lunar Madness concept is great for. I've neglected all my other characters on other servers for the past 2 weeks, which is probably the best testament to how much fun this has been.

How about the rest of you?

And a direct question to Bbot: Did you get back in game? What did you end up doing? (last update you were just downloading Smiley: sly)

I've also abandoned other characters for the time being. Luckily my guild, while a fine and fun guild, it large enough and top heavy enough that my absence doesn't really make a difference. "Sorry guys, too busy playing ancient newbie content on Luclin..."

I wasn't in love with my berserker. Part of that may have been his lame weapon holding back my DPS but I rolled a new alt: a mage. Already have a 76 mage and enjoy the class and I figured the summoned focus gear would be helpful while filling the same basic DPS role in the guild. Within 24 hours, I had her up at the same level as my berserker so I'm back in the game, rollin' on along. Should I come across any good berserker gear, maybe I'll pass it down and see if it helps reignite some interest.

Re-rolled a warrior ( See Rhaah: the second coming... Smiley: grin ), partially for the same reason Joph did. The DPS for the monk just wasn't fun. Now, I have played warriors so many times, and I am loving the new crazy Barbarian. Got him to 7 in the time it took me to get to 3 with the monk. Will work on him this week cause I really want to be able to be part of the groups rolling thru the moon...Smiley: lolSmiley: laughSmiley: grin

I've got the necro up to 23 and the class itself is a lot of fun, and having a good time. BUT I'm sitting here trying to determine if I should just make a non-caster class because there is just absolutely nothing here for casters. Everytime I get anything to drop something I get excited only to right+click and see "All EXCEPT Necro, Wiz, Mage" I mean I get the whole catpeople world of fighters but why would you not put a "wandering wizard" group of NPCs in out of the way locations or something?

On the one hand I don't want to go all through the levels again- on the other hand I'm not sure I want to continue not getting anything until possibly 40th level at the Twilight Sea.

Broons....that is a tough one. On the one hand, Necros can do very well with the least amount of gear, but on the other hand it stinks not to have any gear. I know I changed because as a Barb, I can wear almost anything that the cat people can wear.

But I also stayed in Halas to complete my cultural gear, I just made a story behind it to jive with how I then got to the moon...not that that REALLY matters, but adds some fun.

Maybe, if I can get some levels, we could take Trinmer and myself and you, and head to Unrest ( I'll come up with a story ) and hit up some gear there for you. Or some other zone that you find might help you out if you want to keep the Necro. Just let me know.

Of course, I am an alt-o-holic so understand if you start over...Smiley: sly

Great to be playing with you... Smiley: grin

Oh yeah...some cool caster gear in unrest....working on a backstory now...Smiley: wink

There's a lot of caster gear in Twilight Sea. I did an item search for Necromancers in TS and got about 40 hits back. Some of that is the quest stuff but a lot of straight drops as well.

I think as we expand into Twilight Sea, Scarlet Desert and beyond, you'll see a lot more caster gear open up. At 23, you can join groups with people up to 34 which is the entire guild right now so you can get in on some TS hunting easily enough.

Obviously though, anyone is welcome to "reroll" if they want and there's no reason to delete your Necro. I've never seen it work out well when someone continues a class they're not really enjoying because they feel some obligation. Even if someone wants to start a new melee or something, we have characters who can make banded armor, characters who can buff or cast damage shields, etc to make the second trip go a lot quicker.

I wasn't enjoying the paladin much so I rerolled a DK. I'm sure the pally has more options at higher lvls, but the low lvls were pretty boring. I'm enjoying the DK much more and already up to lvl 15. PC rocks for exp still. Stealing the pally's armor helped out, too. Smiley: sly

I understand alt-o-holic, I've got friends who were the same in D&D, always rolling new pcs, I suppose there's fun to be had in just the creation of the character itself; but I tend to stick with the one so I'll likely stick with the nerco. I suppose it makes the theme of outsiders even more poignant being a caster among fighters on the moon, outsider of outsiders. Mad props to Val for doing the wizard up to that level here; I remember how rough it was for me, and that was with defiant gear (sans the robe naturally) and augs

Appreciate the offer for Unrest, and anytime anyone could use a 23 necro just let me know; but I want to keep her Luclin based. Because I tend to stick with one pc it was hard to tear myself away from Sym my Wizard so I came up with a story for the necro that allowed me to circumvent the aversion to making a second pc:

See Lilyblack's backstory doesn't exist, she just woke up by the city with no memory of how she got there or where she;'s from or even who she is. But the truth is that when Sym visited Luclin those many moons ago, and set up in the Twilight Sea castle, something unexplainable occured: she left a shadow on the moon. Now how this actually happened- what mystical conjunctions of mind and moon combined with what residues of memories past and futures dreamed- we may never know- but in the end, Lilyblack is really Sym: just a lunar version made of dreamshade. So she can't leave Luclin zones or else *poof* (though she can go PoK I added this after I figured out there's no spells or caster/guild of any kind in Shar Vahl area: but Sym is Wizard and PoK is basically Wizard plane manifest so necro can exist there as well

I love that backstory Broon, very creative.

I agree with Jophiel... necro gear is coming! Twilight Sea is the whole-game hub of Luclin vs. Shar Vahl which is the Vah Shir newbie area. upper to High end Luclin has some of the most interesting caster gear in the game by the way.

My druid is almost high enough to be significantly helpful to anyone wanting to reroll and steamroll through the early levels. Even right now, at 25, my damage shield on a level 1-10 warrior merc would make that xp fly. So no one joining late, or wanting to reroll has to do the low levels alone and slow (unless they want to).

Aye Snail,
I had a celebratory Turkey dinner down here in Trinidad (Caribbean) also.. I'm from Canada too. Happy Thanksgiving !

This weekend in game was nothing other than a couple sessions each 2-3 hours long, continuing the grind process to level my main crew from 90 (91 for my main) to 95....eventually.
Got to 92 main, 91.3ish on the other two. Forgot how slow and tedious it can be as DB and white con mobs have waay more hit points than pre HOT days. Its going to be a serious grind...but I love it.Smiley: smile

Just to give you hope and dreams, five semi-randomly selected TS caster drops: Belt of Growth, Marked Bracers, Light Woven Amice, Darkedged Dirk, Twilight Cloth Veil

And five from Scarlet Desert (lvl 40ish): Sunlord's Leggings, Belt of the Surveyor, Prophet's Robe, Ring of Capture, Custodian's Staff

Kind of funny/cool that we'd get excited about gear like that Smiley: laugh

I finally was able to continue the Iksar pike quest on my warrior now that they fixed the geozite tool quest, I finished the 6th quest and leveled him up to 35. Was thinking about doing the whole story thing since I've been documenting the quests, but I don't think It'd be fair since I'm using defiant stuff.

Leveling a warrior with old school armor is really tough!

And the moon guild is also so tempting!

Tell your story, if you want to tell it!

Levelling a warrior as old-school pure as you can is probably the hardest thing to do, especially an evil race warrior.

moon guild has room, give in to the temptation! Anything a person wants to play is viable. Vah Shir classes have the easiest time for trainers/spells/lowbie gear. By 30+ this advantage is basically gone (though beastlords still do well on the loot tables for most zones).

Any class is viable. I'd personally stay away from small races since an awful lot of lowbie gear excludes halflings, dwarves and gnomes. This is less of an issue the higher you level but it's annoying to see the scraps of pseudo-cloth armor in Shadeweaver's be unusable.

Of course, our highest level member (last I looked) is a dwarf paladin so anything is viable provided you don't mind the effort.

On Povar I played Jonwin and Jonwinnie. Dinged 96 on Jonwin doing the daily tasks. Spent some time on the druid Primrosex also doing dailies.
Sunday after work I logged my main account onto Cazic thule and created a drakkin wizard Jonwin! He is now level 3 and heading to the moon.

It's tough since my thesis' second revision is approaching. I only slept like 2 hours every day last week, I don't think I'd make much progress with so little time to play :/

Real life always comes first.

Feel free to "placehold" a character in the guild that you might eventually play when your schedule is more forgiving. We have a few unrepresented classes at the moment... level 1 wizorb the warrior froglok would be a heroic inspiration to all (or something). Smiley: nod

Alright, i'mma make a moon frog warrior named Wizorb, who is also female, because her parents wanted a male wizard, so she ran away to the moon!

Thought about coming back and playing a bit this weekend, but ended up being really busy, so perhaps later this week or next weekend, which is quite possible as I find myself somewhat unemployed for a couple weeks.

No turkey dinner this year, no one's days off allowed for it, although there is a small family gathering happening on Thursday, so who knows, maybe there'll be turkey.

Also, I notice that the word "moon" appears 15 times in this thread. Did I miss something? Because if I recall, the moon of Norrath I know of is quite...meh.

Some of us started a guild where we are just leveling on Luclin using drops from that expansion with no global drops allowed (Defiant, etc). We're having fun although it's obviously not for everyone.

Wow, I'd actually totally be down for that, in that context, assuming I wouldn't be the only one considering you guys have started a guild. What server you guys on? It doesn't say in the thread you linked. I may be inclined to play a bit. Got really bored with TSS stuff and ended up playing WoW for a while. It'd be nice to do something different.

Got everything from level 30 ( last I saw ) to level 8. And I'll even start an alt to keep you company...Smiley: grin

Hope to see ya on...

I'm usually on my druid "Denth" (though this week is going to be sparse for playtime for me).

I love that Wizorb made Wizorb the warrior by the way... Smiley: lol

I'll probably be playing a bit late tonight and tomorrow afternoon. I started a Wood Elf Ranger, who quite likes all things lunar, named Gallo, so if anyone sees me, feel free to come play with me. I will be doing a quick runthrough of the tutorial though to reacquaint myself with the game, but I'll be avoiding the defiant drops and only doing the tutorial up to lvl 5.

Who's in the guild anyway?
