"Summon Holy Steed" I take it, since there's only one "Holy Steed". And thanks. I guessed at expansion and level (PoR and 59) for the 2 Warhorse wiki pages and assumed the prerequisite of Holy / Unholy Steed rank 1. Let me know, if the AA window says something different.

Yther Ore.

The AA shows up in the class section and is called "Holy Warhorse". It's level 59, with the prerequisite of "Holy Steed". The ability ID is 1643.

The spell icon that appears in the buff window is called "Summon Holy Steed", and is the same spell icon that Holy Steed generates. So the same spell effect. Just the appearance of the horse is different (kinda makes sense I guess).

Thanks. The only thing missing is the expansion (it's called something else on the AA window, like category or something, I haven't looked at it in a while. It's on the right of how many AAs it cost, which should be 0. And the category may be something other than an expansion like tradeskill, racial, progression, etc. Either way, I assume it'll be either Shadows of Luclin same as Holy Steed, or Prophecy of Ro since that's where the barding comes from.

Nice to finally get those cleared up. Now just some of the newer progression AAs, like Bane's Strike and the Hero's Vitality, Fortitude, and Resolution. There may be a few others too.

It says Prophecy of Ro.

Insightful thread.

Hurts my head a bit, but insightful. Thanks for everyone looking this stuff up and sharing info.

(I'll admit that given the option... I prefer no mount in EQ).

Too much to read here but I did notice a comment that needs amending: mounts don't have stop/start delays anymore. Which means they can have some use for kiting.

I have seen this mentioned before, but the mounts I have definitely have a slight delay starting and drift quite a bit when stopping. I have a great deal of trouble kiting with them. My Wizard is not too difficult, but my Necro cannot use a mount or he gets interrupted all the time.

You said it. Earlier today, it was very difficult to use the small bank due to mounts. It's also sometimes hard when zoning into the Guild lobby due to mounts at the entrance.

Same here, I mostly use them when runs are over a great distance, but dispense with them once I arrive.

Funny, I just tested my mount in a combat outdoor zone and the stopping is instant. Starting up has a SLIGHT speed-up delay, like probably 1/4 second. But starting up isn't an issue in kiting, it's stopping so you can cast without interruption. Remember there's always a potential interruption when stopping, even while on foot, due to client/server delay. The key is to build in a "quarter-turn" before you cast. I've done this for so many years it's second-nature to me: stop moving, turn slightly to the left, then cast. The turn "locks in" to the server the change in your speed down to zero, thus avoiding any interruption.

I don't use mounts to kite, mainly because I don't need any extra mana and I can't be bothered. But if your mana runs out in your kiting, it's probably worth experimenting with doing it mounted.

Yeah, I got so used to doing this with my necro main over the last 5ish years, that now I do it on any character. Somewhat odd looking and unnecessary on my monk... but that is life as me.

I tested mine afterwards as well and it definitely drifts when stopping. I wonder if my chars are bugged or the connection is terrible and causing this. Is there any way to check this?

That IS strange. I tested on a Kangor model mount but I doubt the type of mount makes any difference. I suppose it could be your connection. Is it "terrible"? I am on a very fast FIOS connection.

I constantly see the connection info cycling from 100% down to 97-99% on a regular basis. The second number varies from 90-120.

I've noticed that stopping is variable on my paladin. Same mount every time. Most of the time, if I let off run, it stops instantly. But sometimes I continue to "coast". I've seen no specific pattern to this, it just happens sometimes. I know I've run right through pok books before because of this.

I dont always use a mount in fighting, but I have noticed you tend to not get pushed back by the mobs as they hit you. Off mount or in illusion and boxing I find Jonwin is often "out of range" while he is still being hit. On the unicorn and watching from the other toon perspective I rarely see him move.

In my own experience, the type of mount seems to determine whether it starts and stops instantly. I personally prefer a slight amount of 'drift' as it's more realistic.

One thing I didn't notice above was a link to this site's page for mounts - I can't be certain it includes all mounts for EQ, but it's complete what what I can tell: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ%3AItems_Mounts The last word for EQ mounts!

One last thing. Yther, you made an earlier post that said this;

Quote:
The conversion stuff is for free /claim slow1 mounts you want to go faster (as fast as the bridle you combine them with) but still look like they did originally (Collapsible Roboboar, Mottled Worg, or Ornate Barding). Only, the ones marked Run2/Fast on the wiki page are flagged, and they will go, Run2 even if you aren't flagged for any mounts.

Yther Ore.

Well, I tried to upgrade my Collapsible Roboboar using the gnome 'Tindle Klinksworth' in the bazaar. When I tried the combine in the kit he gave, it didn't work (tried a silken bridle). Petitioned the issue. Here's the transcript of what happened:

Customer By Web Form 01/23/2014 06:18 AM
I just purchased a silken bridle for 60k plat to upgrade my roboboar for my character Zirumkin. I went to Tindle Klinksworth in the bazaar to get his conversion kit. I placed my bridle and by collapsible roboboar in it and get the message 'cannot combine these items in this container type.'
Please help!

Greetings Zirumkin,

This is Senior GM Zekil.

Tindle Clinksworth upgrades Shiny New Roboboars not the Collapsable Roboboars. I hope this information helps to resolve your issue and good luck to you!

If you need assistance in the future with another issue, please be sure to petition again. To help us resolve your issue faster, please provide as much detail as possible about what happened. Include any character, item, or quest NPC names and the date that it happened.

More information regarding in game issues can be found in our Knowledge Base.

This seems to imply that either the collapsible roboboars cannot be upgraded, or maybe they can...but through another method that I haven't discovered yet (and yes, I'm aware of the *very* expensive method in Crescent Reach where you buy all those parts from the clockwork behind the bank. I don't think that applies to the /claim collapsible roboboar though.

Hope all this info helps someone? Smiley: dubious

Yea, I've been meaning to edit that. The roboboar requires upgrade drops to upgrade it. The barding and worg are upgradable by bought horses. And the AA horse for the barding. Sorry you had trouble.

Nice clarification from the GM also.
