Real Life is all getting ready for the Holiday season. I decided this year people are getting family gifts I want to visit like "settlers of Catan" and "Power grid". I also subscribed 3 of the toddlers in the extended family to my favourite car enthusiast magazine.

EQ was Friday and Sunday.

Friday: My 55 druid made 20+ AA, mostly with the lunar mutants in Crypt of Nadox. We pushed through a good half of the zone, many of the camps would have been ideal if the group range was more 47-53 rather than 55-62 --but there's still a couple of decent spots for that higher range. We settled on the really odd luggald incubator room.

Sunday: did an early afternoon lunar mutant group at the docks in Nadox. Took a long break and came back and did a couple of rounds with just the merc. I can handle the camp fine, but getting out of the area (if I was trying to) would be a bit of work due to the zone being flagged inside (limits my spell options for control).

I got bored so I logged in my entire roster of seldom-played characters. I took the 51 necro to the Hole and played it wrong against the entry elementals. Was fun for a few minutes (tanking with necro, pet wailing on mob while healer merc spammed heals on me) and got a few pieces of gear to wear (going into a zone mostly naked provides opportunity for upgrading!).

Buffed a couple of people randomly in PoK on my chanter, logged in the shaman and wasn't feeling it. Logged onto my retired 54 ranger on Luclin server and debated transfering her over to the mutants (played 30 minutes and dinged 55... was fun, now I miss rangering). If I wait 3 months for my sub to roll over the transfer would be "free" with SC accumulated... but I am ranger antsy now. Smiley: mad

Decided to reroll my monk on Cazic Thule server (where the mutants play). Got her to level 4 in the Paineel newb area and first 5 kobolds in the warrens. I'm thinking she is going to live in the Warrens for a while. Alwayslost appreciated her slightly bugged velious armor look. (also known as "monks go clubbing")

Real Life:
My thesis survived its third revision, and passed with flying colors, now I can focus more on the actualy project than the book, but that's not untill next semester. Also work has been pretty exciting since we're doing publicity stuff for Video Games Live, and that might get me some tickets or other random goodies.

Games:
I haven't had much time to play EQ, I just pop in to check if the Kunark dragons are up in hopes of getting the books for the paladin epic, I managed to kill Severilous and Talendor, but they didn't drop the books.

I've also been playing Ace Attourney: Dual Destinies on my 3DS, I finished it last week, it was pretty fun, though the final case kinda disappointed me because of how it kind of solves the main problem after the halfway point, then you're left with this awkward final piece of the case that's not very interesting, but it's still pretty good. I'd say it's almost as goos as Trial and Tribulations.

Now I gotta get back into Pokemon X and finish it!

Just played a couple hours on my SK,Mage and Shammy on Friday night in Beasts Domain.. Then on Sunday evening I took my Necro to to Feerrott Dream to burn a LOD and kite the Undead Frogloks and undead Gorillas only to find out that they are now summoning at 97% health.

I Heard that this was the developers fix/nerf for the hi level Mage beam kite issue..

Poor fix/nerf imho... It is as if they took a 4" wide paint brush to paint a portrait on a 8" X 11" canvas..thus ruining bread and butter kiting for other classes that rely on it .... anyways that is for another thread..

Almost no EQ for me these past few weeks. RL has intervened. My girlfriend has been quite ill and as she has also just started a new job, I have been quite busy attending to her. It looks like things are beginning to settle down, but with Christmas looming, things will ramp up again. This year, we have relatives coming from the UK, South Africa and Zimbabwe. It should be interesting to see how everyone handles a Canadian winter for the first time without a RL Evac spell.Smiley: lol

RL: I'm busy burning vacation days (somehow, I had 15 left and have to use 'em or lose 'em by Dec. 20) so not really playing all that much. Heck, since I got deep into wilderness survival courses, I haven't played EQ since before the expansion dropped (September?). Logged in briefly on Sunday after noticing I'm still paying to keep 3 accounts gold (despite the fact that I'm not playing!). I had thought that I'd changed the credit card on all my accounts to the one I use for MMOs. Apparently I missed three.

Ingame I had planned to /testcopy several characters and check out the new expansion (try before you buy x12-18). But of course, /testcopy is broken. So I checked to see which characters had what and planned to put together an oddball group when (or IF) they fix it.

I read the patch notes while I was patching the game and had a giggle. Isn't it typical of SOE to use a sledgehammer when a scalpel would be better?

Finally got around to dinging 90 on my pally. Been floating within like 10% for a few weeks now, just haven't had the time/effort to really get on to play (been super busy with holiday stuff). Now I get to dig through my bank to find whatever bits I've been waiting to use until I was 90. Should be fun. I'll probably have to find new hunting grounds soon as well. Ironic that sometimes you kinda don't want to keep leveling because of this. Ah well...

Also did a bit of soloing with my wizard. Ran into an annoying twit at the farm in DSH. I'm sitting there, killing mobs in the southern part of the farm, but I'd noticed when arriving that there were a couple people hanging out around the north end, so I wasn't expecting to be able to kill a ton (didn't pop lod because of this). At some point, I see in ooc a camp check. I don't normally think in terms of camps, preferring to just look at where people are and hunt where they are not, but whatever. I do a who on the person and see that he's level 94 (so nearly 20 levels higher than me). Since I can molo about 3/4ths of the farm all by my little lonesome, I assume this clown would not be checking for a camp where I am, so I ignore him. Apparently, that's a mistake.

I'm sitting in the middle of the southern section of the farm medding (actually waiting for my merc to regen), when I get a tell from the same guy saying "the farm is camped". I'm like "really?". I ask him why on earth he's hunting mobs that are lt blue to me at his level, and he's like "I've got a couple guild members here". I check, and basically it's him (94 necro), a level 80 wizard, and a level 64 shaman (who's flagged afk, just to be classy like that). I decided to just leave the area rather than make a scene (no way I was going to be able to take advantage of lod with his lot there, and it's not like there aren't 5 other places I can port to in 10 seconds that are just as good), but really? How pathetic must you be at powerleveling that you'd pick that spot, with that set of levels to do it? The wizard alone should have been able to clear the entire farm area as fast as the respawn rate. I'm kinda stretching my brain to imagine what necessitated the level 94 necro to get involved.

Am I silly to think that was just plain rude of them? I mean, it's not like the DSH farm isn't one of the more popular hunting spots for level appropriate characters or anything. It's just always amazed me that people who powerlevel and thus have the ability to pick camps that *aren't* good for level appropriate folks to hunt at (and which will be empty because of that), still pick the most popular hunting spots instead. It's like they can think enough outside the box to PL in the first place, but not enough so to think of better places to hunt given that they're hunting differently.

But hey, some people you've just got to allow to wallow in their own stupidity. Didn't really bother me (much). I went to a secondary solo spot, ran through my lod, and grabbed a good chunk of a level and 20 or so AAs. And I managed to pick up some rarish tradeskill stuff for one of my guildies to boot!

You aren't silly at all. Just realize that many (if not 'most') people are completely clueless as to what constitutes a viable spot to powerlevel. One of the top 3 rules is, it cannot be a popular spot for others because PLing there could qualify as 'zone disruption'. And even if it doesn't, other people tend to throw wrenches in the gears of your well-oiled PLing machine. For those levels, treants in Loping Plains would be tons better....and it's NEVER camped. The main difference is the quests. But if you're counting on quest xp, you've already conceded defeat.

Yeah. I actually specifically thought about Loping Plains as a great PL spot, but didn't feel like getting into an argument with the guy about it. Honestly though, with a level 94 involved, LP would be too easy IMO. But at least, it's empty as hell. I can only assume they didn't go there because they had a wizard and the wizard can port directly to DSH. LP would require like an extra couple minutes of travel time.

Yes indeed ! They almost always seem to overdo it with the nerfs.

Gladly, Piestro (The EQ community relations man) posted on the EQ-forums a few hours ago : He basically said that he met with the systems team and they discussed the issue and they have decided to revert the summoning changes back to how they were before.. He also said that the "revert" will not take effect from the next patch (Tomorrow Dec 11th 2013), but rather another patch following that.Smiley: smile

Re the hi level Mage beam-kite issue, he said that they will look at different ways to address these issues including code solutions and they will revisit the issue at a later date..Smiley: eek

So...not really the weekend, but haven't been playing for awhile, so tell ya what I did last night...Smiley: sly

Took the 55 beast and 66 cleric ( and 2 mercs ) to Torigran to try to see what it would take for the guild to get this guy... (Overlord Ngrub https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=11125 )

First time, as I cleared the room, had half done and aggo'd (Taskmaster Luga https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=11127) ,which once you kill him Ngrub comes after you...

which lead to a whole lot of corpses...Smiley: lol Smiley: laugh Smiley: eek Smiley: mad

Ngrub has a spell, Overlord Smash, that warps your tank around the room...and as the beast couldn't hold aggro from either merc, we got tossed right into the rest of the camps = WIPE!!!!!!

Went back a second time, got all the camps cleared, and was gonna pull to the door, so tank couldn't warp in the room, but the re-pops started happening, so I went for it anyway...got him down to 45% before the tank got warped to toward the camps ( had everyone at the back wall in hopes that the tank would stay facing that way and wouldn't warp into the camps, and it worked for awhile Smiley: sly )

Needless to say, that was a wipe also...but the guild could probably pull it off. His Feeblemind spell is a real pain, as it takes 2 curse counters to remove, and you fizzle and lose mana like crazy, plus as soon as you cure it, it is on again.

But, with pets tanking, and someone assigned to adds, we could probably pull it off...would be fun to try...

Anyway, fun to be playing again...

Sounds fun!

Trappin and I ran the low tier of the Gunthak wave event last night. Was all green /con to me at 55. We got the common 2-hander drop. I think a decent group in the 40s probably has a fun challenge with that event. We plan to try the two harder tiers of it as well. The "best" rewards are really still meant for level 40s characters though.

The Torigan event is a much juicier target though, as the drops are aimed more 60-65ish iirc.
