These are showing in the postings of new items. A comment states that they are awarded for completion of House of Thule low level tasks to Heroic characters. However, no specific relationship between any task and an heroic augmentation is shown. May we have some details, please?

I have followed the two links on the Heroic aug(s) pages. What is on the links is what I summarized in the initial post. As I understand, not every task results in an aug; hence the question ... What task(s) results in an aug or a specific aug?

From what I've heard, it's all of them, with only one or two exceptions.

I do know that you can repeat almost all of the quests and get more than one aug. I upgraded heroic gear and instead of paying a fortune to take the aug out of the old gear, I just redid the quest and destroyed the old gear and aug so I could get a new one :)
At this point, I have almost 12 different augs just waiting to upgrade to lvl 92 gear. So there is plenty of augs to be had, and none are hard at all.

It's a fair question, knowing that not every quest in EverQUEST is actually worth doing (in fact, a large portion of them aren't). It's not an act of laziness to ask if it's possible to do a particular quest to get a particular reward. That's how the game has worked for 15 years, with some exceptions. Or do you not remember "cursor loot"? If you did the Skylance series for an item that actually dropped in 69.3, you'd be pretty peeved. The question he posed was a good one. If not every task results in an aug, which ones do grant or aug (or which ones have the highest chance to do that). That's an EverQUEST question since every game after EQ has fixed rewards (or a fixed reward table). Do this quest, get this item (or this class of item). To expect someone to do those tasks just to find out if a desired reward is given, especially given EQ's casual demographic, is unrealistic. That's one reason why ZAM endures as one of the few long time EQ fansites that hasn't gone under (unlike EverLore, CastersRealm and most of the class sites).

The problem is they are new and appear to be random, so it's not yet determined what quests do or don't and what augs they give. That's my take on it, since there are very little specifics and what there are different from person to person. Also, since they're progression tasks, why not just do them all to do the progression? Especially when everyone says almost all of them give augs?

Just my take.

Not to disagree that many (the large majority) are worthless, especially expansions later, just that this doesn't seem to be set up with designated loot from each task.

New stuff needs people "risking" trying it to post for the benefit of all. Some people actually find this to be a satisfying part of their gameplay (and kudos for them) others like to do old stuff to "check it" and that's important too (or at least I like to think so since I've been known to do that).

When it gets mucky is when the devs get happy with the random or large loot table of mostly (or totally) undesirable loots. Doing the same task 100 times to determine that the .01% drop isn't something anyone would want either is a bit much to ask from anyone. So the collective we has to step up (or we remain in the dark).

Long has this been the strength of the Allakhazam database.

I thought they changed the complete a short task in Feerrott, the Dream, to gain access to Tier V Journeyman Mercenaries: so everybody can get them?
Did they due the same for the augs yet?

My point was that the links for the tasks and augs were right there. and as mentioned these are all new augs, more than likely the people that have completed these tasks and got the new augs more than likely don't visit these forums. Why not just do the tasks and find out? Info once again was linked with the new augs....what's the worst that can happen die and loose xp? Oh noes!!

Without derailing too much, I always thought it would be cool if the devs would take really old quests, the kinds literally nobody does anymore (and there are LOTS) and sneak-add a really nice reward to it, at least for the first person on each server who completes the quest after the item is added. This would encourage people to try out old quests, and old content. Obviously the word would start to get around so they'd have to be cute about this and add/remove items periodically.

They sorta do something like this with the super-rare groupable zone drops they added in recent content. I know some players think only raiders should have access to the very top-of-the-line items but I think making such things also available RARELY to groupers and soloers, as well as thru involved but doable quests, would add spice and interest to the game.

Just a quick question.... did they increase the price of the aug removers? Because about 2-3 years ago, they dropped the price of the removers A LOT (like 80-90%), and the last time I played, it wasn't evpensive, at all, to remove a bunch of augs. Like, do the Franklin Teek daily, once, and have enough plat to remove them.

The aug removers are WAY too expensive, like 400+ loyalty crowns to remove 1 lousy aug. For me, I just redo the simple quest.

In reality, I think removing an aug should be Free, why the heck pay to switch them out after you have done the hard work of getting them ???

I think its just a pain when you upgrade multiple pieces of gear to have a diff aug distiller for each item.

The distillers are pretty cheap these days so I just keep a small stack of the most commonly used ones (Type 13 seems to come up over and over) in a bank satchel and take it out of the bank whenever I do some augment switching. Not such a big deal. But given the new Care Bear mindset of Sony devs these days don't be surprised if they do something eventually like eliminate distillers, or combine them all into one AFFORDABLE "universal distiller" (maybe exempting some high-end augs so they can keep selling their Perfected Distiller for SC) or just drop the whole distiller requirement. (Notice that the Type 20 augments, that you gotta pay 10$ to be able to use, have no distiller requirements. Plug them in and out of your gear whenever you feel like it!) This would be entirely consistent with many changes they've implemented in the last couple of years.

That probably depends on how many alts you run. I only play a couple characters regularly, so keeping up on gear is relatively simple. As a result, I'm usually looking for things to spend loyalty points on. To me, using loyalty point to buy stuff is "free".
