Well, my subs ended in July. So I had not logged in since.
I was pretty busy for the last two months of summer here in Colorado.
Logged a metric ton of two wheel hours...both motorized and pedal powered.
Did Elk hunting with Dad and my Uncles.
Sold my house in Reno.

I finally came to a few days off where logging in to eq seemed right.

Egads!
All my visible gear is unuseable (prestige). All my augs are out of service as well. My T5 mercs are ignoring/will not come when I call. Spells...all my rank 2 and 3's now cast as rank 1. All eight of the toons on each account are available. Lastly, the nag to upgrade is an irritant.

The upshot is,..I re-subbed after three days of grief.

Funny thing though while in FTP mode I upgraded all my visible slots to tier 2 VOA (non-prestige and better stuff) and added 5-7k hps to all four of my main crew. I should have done that long ago.

The weekend of free-to-play turned out to be a good life experience for my Bard, Shammy, Druid and Shadowknight.

Anyone else have weekend woes that turned out good?

My weekend woes were entirely non EQ related. It was the two days I fear every two to three years when it comes time to search out a new cell phone contract. I rarely travel any more, so I settled on a company called Wind Mobile. They offered $40 a month unlimited calling and data. Well, they turned down my credit for some reason and besides no longer had the phone I wanted (HTC One M8). Went to try Virgin Mobile, got my credit approved in less than a minute, but didn't offer the phone. Stupidly, I settled for a phone of lesser value. 12 hours later after fighting to set up the phone, missing several calls and texts when the phone didn't vibrate, ring or do anything to signal incoming calls or texts, I took it back and cancelled the contract. Do not walk, run away if anyone offers the HTC Desire 510....

Next, I got my credit approved at two other suppliers who actually offered the phone and had it in stock and proceeded in the back and forth negotiations for deals. Got one to reduce the phone by $70 and contracts were similar, so I went with them. Another few hours of setup and good to go.

I now have two years to get my blood pressure under control before the "quest" begins anew.

Got Eyepatch of Plunder for my alt. Took a little over 24 hours -- SF was actually up the first time I zoned in but I didn't have time get my alt there.

Otherwise, nice and quiet, just how I likes'em.

Not much EQ for me this weekend - I was working. But I had one funny experience about being Free Player Smiley: wink
My main is on All Access account, but my pocket mage is'nt.

I was working on my mages 1.5 epic - farming stuff.
Then I had to rise brewing skill above 100.
I went to brew barrel at PoK, opened it, hit Search Resipes... and nothing. I inserted "Fettid Essence" - nothing. "Fetid" - still nothing. "Essence" - nothing again.
Then i tried to place ingredients into the barrel - it did'nt let to.
Hm...

I started to realize that maybe I can't use this new fancy crafting system because of Free Player status.

So I hit Experiment button which opens alternative barrel window and worked it up in old way - placing ingredients one by one, hitting Combine and so on till my skill was 122 Smiley: grin
Fortunately there was only two ingredients in this recipe.

So I had a very old school afternoon Smiley: cool

I recently came back as well after a six month break. I had tried starting up on my monk again, but I think I was just burnt out on that class after playing it for six years.

Decided I needed a fresh start. Played around with a bunch of different combinations but decided on a Paladin/Wizard box to level up. They are level 51 now and lots of fun. I chose wizard mostly because I already had a high level chanter/shaman and bard on that account that I have used to box with my monk in the past. I've tried 3 boxing before but found it way too stressing to be worth the effort. Once I get higher, I think I will switch out the wizard for the enchanter though.

Anyways, glad to be back to Everquest. I needed the break though. For a while there I was just spending too much time playing. I maxed out AAs on my monk, and spent so much time leveling up other characters that I have 7 characters that are 90+ lol.

Really looking forward to playing the paladin at higher levels. I loved the monk, but not having a tank for my box duo was always very limiting with what I could accomplish.

BTW, I had the same story with my former main shammy. I was away 7-8 years and when I came back I just could'nt "connect" with him anymore - I leveled him a bit, but I was'nt... motivated. I did'nt saw SK as my main either, so I started a necro and having lots of fun again.
So I let my shammy rest - he has done enough Smiley: grin, but my alt SK is still in game.

What about others in this forum - did this happened to you too?

I know what you mean about not connecting. I think I was pretty bored with the Monk for a while too I just hadn't realized that that specifically was the source of my EQ boredom.

Really enjoying the Paladin so far. The wizard is so-so. Such a straightforward class. Lots of pew pew, and at this level casting even one nuke is instant aggro. Paladins don't seem to get anything related to holding aggro until much later. So I've just been playing him primarily as a healer. Paladin + Wizard + 2 Wizard mercs = very fast killing. I'm expecting I can get away with this set up until 70.

Currently hunting in Acrylia Caverns until 60, then I will head to the Hole until 71. At which point I will switch one of the mercs out for either a healer, or a tank. Not sure which yet.

Use your stuns. They generate massive amounts of agro, are cheap, and even if you don't grab agro, they stun the mob, thus preventing it from running after your wizard (for a few seconds at least). Of course, the wiz can still out agro him if he goes full nuke. And at the level range you're in right now, it's honestly probably not a huge deal anyway (not worth slowing down wiz damage to keep damage on the pally). But later on, you're likely going to want to find a nice balance between damage rate for the wiz and agro holding for the pally. And yes, paladins do get some additional agro-only spells later on, but honestly I still mostly just use stuns. Oh. And there's a line of AA stuns that later splits into a "do more damage" branch and a "generate tons of agro" branch. Good stuff!

Surimuri, sometimes you have to have be successful at making one in experiment mode, before the recipe will show up in the search list. After you made at least one successful combine, you should have switched back to search mode and tried again. Only a few quest specific recipes never show up.

EDIT: Not a whole lot over the weekend in-game, if anything. RL is a different story. Maybe I'll explain it next weekend update. :)

I caught Venril Sathir, so I have done most of the "never done or even seen" targets on my EQ Bucket list thread.

I definately agree that playing something different is often a good way to come back.

I had to quit my awesome job to get a new poopy 9 to 5 job that pays more, because I couldn't live off my old job anymore :/

And I logged in to kill Trakanon because he was the only jerk that was up on my rare list.
