Would there be interest in a comprehensive PP guide?Follow

So, I've been busting my *** for the least year or so, as time has allowed me, in creating a pp guide for all zones up to about lvl 75-80. I find myself finally about 25% done, with so much left to go, and I'm wondering about the point of it given the slowly decreasing number of players.

Basically, I'm running through all these zones with an 85 Warrior, spending exactly 1 hour in each zone, tracking how much pp I make from vendor loot and cash drops, and then, taking into account the likely speed at which someone at the zone appropriate level might go through, and basing, on that and other evidence, which zones are potentially best and worst both for each level group, and all levels in general. My intent will be to rank them on a scale of 1-10 for zone appropriate level, and again 1-10 for all levels. I may change this to be a percent based system or something else later on, but I don't know quite yet how I'll be presenting the final product.

If I was to follow through and finish this, and post it here, would there be enough interest to make it worth it? Would it be worth bothering to make a sticky? Should I keep going? Or is this just silly and there are plenty of perfectly fine guides out there?

I mean, I'm doing all zones because sometimes, and I know I''m not the only one, we get tired of TSS zones(although I will say that some of these have surprised me with how absolutely terrible they are for plat and loot, looking at Stone Hive for a really good example due to the sheer amount of wasted time spent not picking up the stupid amount of NODROP **** whose images look like the sellable ****), and the popular farming zones(The Hole, PoF, etc.), and want options for other places to go other than the known alternatives, just to keep the game interesting, and for the excuse to explore the entire world of Norrath and all it has to offer.

What do you guys think?

I love to see efforts like this. I started working myself on a guide to pharming COLLECTIBLES, which is a similarly complex topic. You're taking on a big challenge here but one which a lot of players probably would love to have access to. I don't know if an hour is enough time, even for a powerful toon, because different races/species of mobs can have dramatically different loot drops. You can determine a lot of this from studying Magelo as well, without having to even visit zones. At a lot of levels it's not the coin drop that makes a zone profitable, it's the loot. If mobs drop a lot of good gems, that has the potential to be very lucrative. Then when you talk about vendor drops you're totally ignoring the Bazaar potential of some items, like tradeskill itemss. Most of them have a much higher value to other players than their vendor buy prices would indicate. We've all seen those items that vendors offer 1cp for.... ripoff artists! Smiley: lol

So, in short, a great project, but LOTS of work. I'd suggest you short-cut it a bit by just coming up with 2-4 zones per level group (60-65, 66-70, etc.) which you have found are good sources of plat and item drops. There's no need to go beyond that many zones because, frankly, at sub-95 levels, no zone is crowded even if it's rich in drops.

Speaking as a usually dirt poor sod, I'd love to see something like this! I don't envy all the potential hard work however.Smiley: nod

Not to throw cold water on your effort (because I think it's an amazing thing!), but I would hate to see you burnt out over this.

My suggestion would be to publish what you have, share your methodology (which you kind of already have), and then open it up for community support, and let the EQ community help you finish it off. No more burnout/frustration for you, and the community gets the info.

I haven't ignored bazaar potential of some items, I just haven't included them in my calculations as prices will vary from server to server and over time. Obviously there's more pp to be made by selling a lot of stuff in Baz, but sometimes you just don't have time, and I think there might be some limitations on F2P accounts when it comes to selling in Baz.

My plan was originally to do every single zone, but I've been removing some from the list after some terribly disappointing, or frustrating experiences(like Plane of Justice, or Plane of Air). I also have been spending some time figuring out the best places in zones for pp. I mean, I wouldn't send someone to Blackfeather Roost and tell them to only kill bears, when one can make thousands progressing through the zone. Or to focus on the beetles outside in Unrest when the money is upstairs and in the basement(or in the house in general, really). So I am taking that into account.

I may post what I have once I feel like I have enough to adequately cover each level group up to 55, as that's the most difficult time to make pp.
