If I buy a potion of peace from the Loyalty vendor, will it make me indifferent to the faction, or set me back to the default for my race (which is KoS)?

Sorry, subject should say Loyalty Crowns Potion of Peace

Thanks,
Tat

Default, I believe.

It just clears any negative factioning hits you may have taken during your adventuring. Heck, it might even be counter-productive if you raised a faction and then used the potion. Not sure 'bout this, though, since I've never used one. Anyone know fer sure?

Sippin is correct. The potions of peace (note they are Loyalty, not LoN as the subject suggests) just resets your faction back the default for your character (some race/class combos may have a different default). I am not sure about the other question; if you worked it up and used one (why would you?) then does it reset it to default. My guess is that it overwrites whatever you had there, good or bad, but that's just a guess.

My hope was that it would set my faction to "indifferent" for Heretics, and then I could just improve faction from there. Default for me is KoS. But before I bought it, I wanted to make sure. Since I've already done some faction work, I didn't want to get the potion if it would just reset it to default.

Yeah. You don't want to use it unless you've dorked faction with a group in the past. The primary purpose is to make it easier to correct for bad faction hits you've accumulated over time. Say you took part in some coldain dwarf killing back in the day and now want to do the shawl quests. You get to fix that. Or if you killed guards somewhere. That kind of thing.
