What are "small bright fear shards" for? I have quite a few, and learned last night you can't use them for Circle Builder faction. I also see that they're not used for the "Shard Experiences" quest (that's "small glowing fear shard").
So what exactly are these used for?

It seems to be used in the "Shard Experiences" quest for step 3 in this link : "Test a Fear Shard from near The Hole in Shards Landing 0/1" :
The quest link says to R click on the Magical Analyzer with the "Small Bright Fear Shard" on your cursor..

So, another question... for the shards used to gain Circle Builder faction, are they NO DROP? Because I never see any of them for sale in the Bazaar (just the small glowing and small bright, the two I mentioned above).

None that I know of are no trade but for instance,
The "Tiny Pale Fear Shard" that you need to complete a stage in the quest is only given to you from Magus Burlshin(sp) after you hail him later on in the quest.
So even though its trade-able, it is consumed/used during the latter stages of the quest so that's probably why there never is any of those in the Bazaar, as they do not drop from mobs like most of the others.

Its listed as dropping in Beasts Domain from 3 mobs: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=104753
But it must be rarish as when my Necro was in his low to mid 90's, I used to kite the Okiina Vinethrasher - plant mobs - in the south section of the zone for a few months, and never saw that shard or any other ones drop from them.
Edit: I was just looking at the item info in the link and it is listed as: Very Rare

So, if that's the case, and this is the only way to raise the faction, I guess you're not meant to get the faction, then? With 41 shards needed to max it? Seems a bit strange.

OK, figured it out. The "small glowing fear shard" is the main drop that gets turned in for faction. It's not in the list for the "shards of fear" page, so that's why I wasn't looking for those. I thought it was another "special" shard for the "Shards experiences" quest. These shards (small glowing) DO drop more frequently, and are for sale in decent numbers in the bazaar :)
