Cyliena has put together a team of updating admn volunteers with the intent of keeping the EQ database going. Some of you will remember a gap in updates happening and then Cyliena picking that slack up a short while ago. Keep in mind this was when she was employed to do so.
Right now we are in the early days of this experiment. One of the volunteers is sticking with news updates it seems (which is cool). So far 3 of the volunteers have done the item/quest/bestiary updates. We've seen some small updates with only a few entries. Keep in mind that we can only update what you tell us. One thing we've noticed already is how awesome some Zam users are about contributing information to the site --Sippin and Oxgoad deserve a shout-out for being mvp's of late in this area. Your posts in the database threads are the best way for the volunteer team to put together the updates.
Now, we have an expac about to drop so that will be a lot of new item entries at some point. In the mean time, please consider doing the following:
-when you kill a mob that gives faction, quickly check and see if we have those faction numbers in our bestiary. We are missing many of them as those numbers showing is a newer thing. Just post your findings under the mob.
-if you loot an item, see if we know it drops from that mob. If the last entry for the mob was pre-2008 then it's okay (even good) to post in the thread "Item _____ still drops from mob ____ today". This is actually quite helpful to people playing old content trying to do quests that no one has updated in 10+ years. If you like quests... pick a zone and run some quests to see if all our info is still correct. We need /loc (locations) and faction for many quest npc and turn-ins.
-Be aware that Legacy of Ykesha and later expacs do not have near the depth of posts on each item/quest/mob/zone/raid. This becomes even more pronounced for group level content beyond The Serpent's Spine 1-50 zones. Posts/information on PoP and earlier formerly locked raid zones is also thin. For example Sleeper's Tomb has numerous drops that are multi-mob that we only know one or two of the mobs for. Basically what I am saying is no matter what level you are playing in we need the info.
Lastly, the two current progression servers are facing Kunark (sooner or later). It would be nice to hit Kunark hard with some exploring and recording of information.
