Honestly, this is THE worst search function for anything i have ever come across.
I keep ending up with blank pages when i try to search for stuff, could be im doing something wrong, but i will claim this; if you made a function that is apparently not at all intuitive, probably the odds are that you did something more wrong than me.
At any rate, since the item search bit was the reason i subbed to the site, i dont really see myself as a being a long time user, just thought i'd share my thoughts.

You are probably hitting the wrong switches. What are you trying to search for? I can show you which switches to check.

SEARCH here works well, usually, but it's true that you do have to provide at least a modicum of sufficient search info. You can't just search, for example, for "all warrior weapons." But bottom line I've used it for many years and it's been invaluable to my gameplay.
Edit: actually you CAN search for "any warrior primary item" which I just did! I think this may have been improved because I seem to recall you had to add something more for the search to return results.
In short, though, several searches I just tried worked fine so don't know why you are having problems.

Once you get the hang of it, it's really rather easy. I've played EQ for close to 15 years now and I'd be lost without Alla and the good folks here.

In some circumstances, search produces no results. Let me give specifics. Searching for "Shaman" "armor" with name "conflagrant" and specifying slot. Most slots give results. However asking for finger or ear produces no results.
EQ Traders shows me that Conflagrant Ring and Conflagrant Earring are both available. When I search Alla by typing that in the specific slot blank on the home page lists are produced, but not from the elaborating search page.

Don't specify "armor." I don't think earrings and rings are considered armor, they're considered "jewelry." I ran that same search without specifying armor OR jewelry and I was returned a long list including those with conflagrant in their names.

The quick search at the top will give you mixed results if you search for something that results in 100 or more records. It caps at 100 results. The advanced item search will give you up to 300 records max of the same item name if no switches are used and you are searching by item name.
Items have a ton of info when the item collector inputs info for the item, you can see most of it by looking at the raw info on lucy for an item. The advanced item search allows you to basically search in each of these table columns by picking the right options to search in those columns. By default, without selecting anything on the advanced item search other than typing in the name of the item, you are searching through almost all of the database columns except for those special switches set to exclude by default in the bottom right corner of the search page.

I use "armor" as a filter to rule out augmentations. But if "jewelry" is an option here, I will use that when appropriate.

NO, the advanced search does NOT work. Try SK, dark elf, primary, piercing and my page basically locks. Can't enter more info such as level and such. I reported this several weeks ago to support, seems not fixed yet. There are tons of different combinations that lock it, those do for sure.

When trying to use the advanced search on Allahkazam's EQ site it locks up and is unusable. You can't select more than about 2-3 criteria before this happens. Since I am a tradeskiller and make a lot of stuff for people I really use this feature. I would really appreciate it if you could look into this.

No the browser does not lock up, that may have been misleading. The browser stops responding and asks if I want to recover the page.
I am using Microsoft Edge. An example (and I can create many) is select class: rogue select slot: primary select type: piercing and then I can't select a level range it just hangs until it comes back not responding. If you need more, holler.

That bug with Edge has been fixed on my dev environment. However I can't push code out to the site due to backend issues. Once ZAM gets that fixed we can push the code through. Try using another browser for now.

Use Chrome, works great! I don't like Google's privacy policies but Chrome is a darn good and secure browser.
