i'm not exactly sure how different this would be. i've seen quite a bit of hume dragoons on my server(bismarck). more than any other race. i think i've seen like one elvaan dragoon. i'm guessing that all the races are pretty well balanced. you'd have to look at what stats are important for a dragoon as well as sam but i was reading this article on jobs and sub jobs and here is what is has to say:
--n. Dragoon/Samurai--
One of the best Dragoon combos! Huge TP allows for multiple weapon skills such
as the great Pentathrust, which will pile on damage. Great attacker. And you
can use Super Jump to shed hate.

so i guess that's that =p

A DRG/SAM Combo would be very effective for a multitude of reasons:

1.) Samurai makes an excellent supporting class because up to level 35 you are gaining major stat boosters in TP (This ability alone would be worth the sub - considering you can chain up pentathrust)

2.) Samurai will make the dragoon stronger, and faster. He will hit harder and dodge more.

3.) A samurai gives your dragon (pretty dragon) healing AND damaging breath. So when your wyvern 'breathes' sometimes he will hurt the enemy, and sometimes he will heal you (depending on what is more crucial) only 3 subclasses can claim that.

With such evidence saying that a samurai is a good idea... I wont know why you would try anything else :)
