okay so ever since i played my 1st online game i've been hoping for a final fantasy mmporg so i was excited when i heard ff11 was in the works but after scanning the various message boards on this site i'm hesitant to buy it the reason for this is i've read several posts about difficulty finding groups/being ejected from groups because your races starting stats make it better suited for a different class then the one you choose things like are the only real thing that bother me about mmporgs (you loser my healer is better then yours because of the minimal stat difference!) that kind attitude is bs sure in the beginning you maybe slightly weaker in your paticular class but its been my experience that if you couldn't reasonably compensate that early weakness through items/buffs your race would've been banned from that paticular class Is 'racism' in ff11 really as bad as i think or where crappy players/annoying people just blaming their inability to group on something other than themselves?

(now thats a run-on sentence!)

thank you for your input

Most people who play the game believe in the "Pair whatever race with whatever job you want" philosophy. Not too many are interested in max stats, cause how many of us will reach lvl 75 anyway? Most people are polite, and I have never seen anyone kicked out of a party. True, it is difficult to find a party for some level ranges (28-30 particularly) but it makes groups stick together all that much longer.

I'm just roughly gonna quote two things I said in a different thread with the same topic -

[..]

Summoners differ from other classes in that a Summoner's strength is determined by only one stat, and that is MP : something that makes Tarus, and in lesser measure Humes and Mithra, by far more able at this class. Which rather much sucks for Elvaan and especially Galkas, who are just about unable to keep out a summon long enough to be of any real use.

[..]

In all cases ('cept maybe the Summoner), as long as you don't actually suck, you'll be just fine. I get as many invites on my Hume White Mage as I do on my Elvaan White Mage, even though Elvaan are supposedly poor WHMs : and on the same account, there's plenty of Taru Dragoons that have little problems finding parties, dispite their supposedly poor damage.

Which roughly comes down to Anonymous' "pair whatever race with whatever job you want", with the addition of "as long as you're not a totally ill-matched combination". Don't be surprised if somebody would rather wait for a Taru Black Mage than party with your Galka Black Mage, or shun partying your Elvaan Summoner because he can't perform too well - but the difference between a Hume White Mage and an Elvaan White Mage is so small that no decent party 'll pick one over the other, because they both get the job done just as well.

Keep in mind - in those cases where one race is grossly dominant over another, there isn't any argument. Nobody 'll contest the fact that Taru Summoners by far surpass Galka Summoners - but take a look at all the posts in the Elvaan vs. Taru WHM debates, and you'll see there's plenty of arguments to pick an Elvaan over a Taru, and vice versa.
