What is a good path to take to become a good Elvaan dragoon?
Like, start as a warrior, become a dragoon and subclass with a samauri?
Any advice would be well appreciated.

Most people take a subjob at 18 (or whenever they finish the subjob quest), because frankly you are more effective with a sub than without. It will be hard to get groups to 30 as a WAR with no sub unless you have friends to carry you. The most common pre-30 subs for a WAR are MNK and THF.

Personally, I hope to be a PAL/WAR someday. Here's is my plan for getting there:

1. Monk to 18, do subjob quest.
2. Make WAR main, sub MNK. Level to 38 WAR/18 MNK
3. Do Paladin quest, sub WAR. Level to 75 PAL/38 WAR...

Where you are trying to get is more complicated. One route would be:

1. WAR to 18, do subjob quest.
2. Make MNK Main, sub WAR. Level to 15.
3. Make WAR Main, sub MNK. Level to 30.
4. Do Samurai quest
5. Make SAM Main, sub WAR. Level SAM to 38. (WAR is a good sub for SAM, btw)
6. Do Dragoon quest
7. Make DRG main, sub SAM. Level to 75 DRG/38 SAM.

Lots of extra levels doing 2 advanced classes. Hope this helps.
