I have not played FFXI before but i wanna start playing it now is it still worth playing seeing that the game has been going for such a long time ?
This is a useful post someone made earlier .
From my own personal point of view - nows a great time to start playing . There's an update in the next few days thats HUGE , and looks set to somewhat rejuvenate the lower levels .
If you do start, and I can help in any way at all, I'd be happy to ^^

It is a bad time to start now unless you plan to get the installtion done before Monday.
Other wise wait a day or 2 after Monday then it it will be a good time to start again.
Just please dont start on Monday, it's a bad time.

Think, he isn't talking about start today, just askind if the game is a good choice.

And yes is a great game, to start any time.
Like Fatalillusiontw say, there will be an update on monday that bring a lot of new fresh air into the game.

Ok Cool Thanks guys for the info i bought the game over the weekend have not installed it yet but i will do so during the week.
I have been reading up on the game and it seems like a great game to play just wanted to make sure it is still worth playing.
O by the way is there is server i should choose or would any server do ?

I would recommend getting the majority of the updates tonight, before the cavalcade of updaters tomorrow. A version update is planned for tomorrow and the servers often have bandwidth issues on update day due to the massive influx of people trying to get the newest version of the game.
If you have any friends on a specific server, I recommend joining them. If you don't, any server will do. Someone on these glorious forums might even grace you with a Gold World Pass, which can be used toward gaining goodies the longer you play.

I just started (again, after 3+ years) and am thoroughly enjoying myself. Looking forward to today's update.
