Is it sometimes hard to get along with party members. I usually feel shamed if I did a very bad job. secondly do they usually spread rumors about other players. also any suggestions that I can help to improve on.

You're gonna have to be a lot more specific.

Unless you do something epically retarded like stealing a PCC or being like this guy, you'll be fine. No one cares if you do a bad job in a pt enough to spread rumors about you. They might just see you and not invite you. This isn't high school.

With this being a game what deals with other players, there's always a chance someone is having a bad day and decide to be cranky to anyone they come in contact with.

Having things go wrong ingame does not improve your chances of having a nice day either. ;)

I see. reason I was asking is I was a whm for the first time (in party)and I did a crap job at it. would rather be a tank in party anyway. Just so you know I haven't been though many parties and hopefully I can better myself in this department. another thing how common is it to boot people out of parties just because they did a crap job?

What level was this party? If it was the dunes and you were kicked due to a "bad job" then that leader is an @$$ so don't let it get you down. WHM can be a stressful job sometimes, especially when the puller isn't paying attention to you. Smiley: oyvey

Just learn from the mistakes you make and don't spam /say or /party macros whenever you do a cure. If you choose to get better at your job everyday, do your research and try to strive for better gear as you level you will be fine.

Last night there was this ninja who macroed in /say twin serpent dragon in all his WS among others. It never bothered me but it might some others.

Edit: Grammar.

Generally people won't say much if you're just being somewhat nooby. At worst people won't invite you again.

As has already been mentioned you have to do something pretty epic (rush to do something and cause massive failures b/c of it, or whine that people should give you something for nothing, etc) to get people to talk about you 5 minutes after a party is over.

thank you guys for your input on this. more or less I am sort of a noob of this game but played just long enough to understand a few of the jobs which for me is a WAR, RDM, and WHM at 30, 15, and 13(as of this post) respectfully. In case anyone is interested is was a lvl 12-15 party in the dunes. I think I might a little too much as a WHM. I tried to attacked and heal at the same time (big mistake so I discovered) and I do ask why they kick me out (at least so far its legit reason and I usually evaluate myself to try to improve myself from there). But like I said I kind of a noob and have been playing for a few months. I am try to be a nice a generations player and not a complainer.

Yeah meleeing is rarely a good idea with WHM. They shouldn't of kicked you for that though, merely point out what you were doing so you can correct yourself. 99% of my time on my WHM I'm staring at a wall while throwing out my cures/buffs/and the rare enfeeble.Smiley: laugh

Low level parties (up to level 40) can be a *****. And there are several reasons for it.

First off people in low level parties usually are playing new jobs (unless they are severely synced down), which does take getting used to. While you can expect a player to at least understand the main principles of his/her job at level 40+ (like not meleeing as a WHM Smiley: smile), you can't expect them to already know all the fine details.

Secondly, a low level party might have a mixture of newbee and veteran players (who probably have one or several other jobs at 75 already). While you can expect those veterans to understand the basic mechanics of a party, it is not really fair to expect the same from a newbee. Some veterans are real @ssholes at this and instead of trying to teach the newbees how to play (or at least give them some advice), just start yelling and swearing and end up kicking new players from their party. Just avoid these pricks in the future, they are not worth your time. Blacklist is a great tool for that.

Last of all there are the EXP *****. These are usually veteran players (although I have seen this behavior with players bringing their first job to 75 too), who's only goal seems to be to get the highest EXP/Hr rating possible. God forbid if you make a mistake leading to the death of a party member (and thus a loss of time and EXP), try to make a joke in party chat, ask for advice, ask for a short MP break, ask for the puller to not consistantly bring in IT++++ mobs, etc... You will get yelled at and possibly kicked from the party. Treat these players the same as the second class... blacklist and ignore.

The best way I have found to escape from the annoyances of 'prick' players and to enjoy job leveling in FFXI is to engage in linkshell EXP statics. Since you are playing with friends or at least people you know, there is less chance of being yelled at if you make a mistake. Because in general, linkshell members tend to help each other out, at least by giving good and sound advice, your chances of learning to properly do the job increase tremendously. On top of that, you might have the incredible luck to find a group of LS friends to static with that are not afraid to experiment and allow strange job/subjob combos or party setups (I still laugh whenever I see a party leader shouting "We need a tank, we can't party without a tank" Smiley: laugh). The latter also allows you to easily find a party if you took interest in one of the 'lesser wanted' jobs. Finally you can level your job of choice from low level all the way up to 75 with the same bunch of people, tremendously increasing your kill efficiency as a party and reducing the time lost lfg.

If you are so lucky as to find a LS static (as I did years ago), there is nothing that stands in your way to learn to play your job right, and still enjoy it all the way.

Off course, this does not mean you don't have to do a lot of research on your job. Especially when starting a new job, you should read the guides (either on Allakhazam, Wikipedia or other FFXI related forums) and understand the basics. Not meleeing as a WHM is something you could have picked up easily by skimming the stickies (keep that for skill up parties at later levels).

Good luck with your WHM career (it is a great job if you like helping others).

I have a hard time getting along with people too. I don't know what it is. I even started to make cute little search comments, shout random things for attention (RE: So how's you 'ol chapz in San d'Oria doin'?), and even join several linkshells in a dire and desperate attempt at any kind of positive attention.

Ya'know, the more I think about it, the more I realize people just don't like me. Maybe it's my hair? Maybe it's the fact i'm a hume? Maybe it's the fact Custom Slacks don't look good with a seer's tunic (I've been leveling WHM lately!). I don't know though, nobody seems to like my ninja either. People are supposed to like Ninja's. Ninja's are black and sneaky and stab people with pointy things.

Or maybe it's just the way I am. Probably. I just suck at being social. I put myself out there, try to be the LIFFFFFFFFFFFE of the party, and what to I get? "yo stp tlkin to urself dood." WTF MAN. I'm tanking your **** and trying to have a good time and you tell me to stop talking to myself? SHADOWS AREN'T COMPANY MAN I WAS TALKING TO YOU. I notice people take me more seriously when I type in caps. "Whoa, that guys typing in caps. He's serious." I need some tips on how to be an acceptable human being because nobody seems to appreciate me.
