I have only read the posts from the first page, and all I can figure out about it is that Tenfooterten is

A. Trying to troll, but failing.

B. Attempting to get his Alla rating nuked into oblivion so he has no reasons to ever come back on here.

C. An absoulte moron.

Choose one.

the many posts says (A), but my guess is (C). a lot of people really are that emotional about ffxi/forums and say stuff about how they're always "straight up" or "honest"--meaning exempt from exerting any effort to think about what they say or avoid stupidity.

edit: drunk typos.

I know a lot of people who are always willing ti help, hell im one of them.

Helped some one on his 2-3 mission and to get his PLD earring, only thing that bothers me is helping people who have about 10 Shells just to ask for help.

Hi All
I need help

Switch Shell and repeat

I love socialising on this game and playing it for what it is, but its the stinking attitude of the people who need help when you say No Im sorry Im busy did you think I signed on with plans ?

most of the time i sign on, i sign on with the intent on doing something as im sure many do. Last night i helped out because I had nothing to do and no plans so I did.

*edit*

Also when saying No why should I be made to feel guilty I cant help out. Back in the day it was easier to get in a group and help each other, now the game is semi full of vampires out for blood! :)

well if your ranting about 2-3 whats gonna happen when they lift the cap from areas and what about 2-5 cop mission which you need 6 people

people don't help others due to the fact that they are in end game shells and time is limited for them everything is scheduled so are you going to pass up einherjar or sky or sea or other things that you have scheduled for a rank mission 2-3?

Well, people still seem pretty willing to help out with the newer content. Can you blame those who don't want to help someone with the Rank 5 fights for the 100th time? Or those who don't want to go do the level cap quests again?

first up i find it hard finding people help with newer content like the wotg quests.
stuff like rank missions and cop i hope will start to get easier from the next update. why ? well because the level increase, and the cop areas having no cap will suddenly make the solo aspect of the game open up and will only get better for old content once the cap goes up.
the dragon fight and 5-1 will still be problems though but shadow lord you can solo at the moment, did it pld /war and will be eaiser once cap goes up.

Don't blame SE, every MMO in the market nowadays has become a disappointment. I think the current formula of MMOs in general has passed it's freshness date. Sad to say but I'm not even expecting much out of the new Star Wars MMO, let alone FF14. It's no longer about the fun an exploration as it is about exploiting the math of the game as much as possible, and unless a game developer figures out how to completely destroy that pattern, it's just going to repeat itself.

i have big hopes for both star wars and ff14 , from what i read of ff14 hopefully it wont have levels and only skills so will be quicker to get a good build, in ff11 i have a problem where i main paladin with capped sword, evasion and divine skills but i need level up another job to be able do content in the game so i hope ff14 improves on this situation.

ff10 is now my longest played online game , longer than my ultima online playtime and that was a fair bit so yes its showing it age fairly badly now but there still things good about it which i hope ff14 will improve on.

star wars looks intresting and might be game which take wow crown as mmorg to the massive , but ff14 i think will need prove itself more than starwars but think it going be a great game.

This thread is pretty epic. I would be really stoked if it turned out that Tenfooterten was just trolling.

It's not always rudeness, it's also a time issue. Since you don't have a choco license yet hiking on foot to Jeuno while guarding a low level that can aggro everything on the path can easily take an hour or two. The people you are asking may have LS events occurring soon or are planning to log off right after they finish whatever they are doing.

You don't need an escort to Jeuno. When I hit 20, I walked solo to Jeuno. I was (and still am) RDM, so I had Sneak (particularly useful since I was walking from Bastok and needed to avoid a lot of Quadav), and one stack of powders, that I paid for out of my own earnings. I've heard testimonials from people who did it with no stealth at all. It helps if you a) reset your home point at guard posts along the way so you don't get sent all the way back to start if you die and b) have a good exp buffer to guarantee than you'll still be 20 when you get there. It'll be even easier nowadays with Reraises from the Field Manuals. I don't wish to seem arrogant, but a lot of people ask for help for things that don't need help (and they would learn useful playing skills by doing them solo).

You can also use Repatriation from the Field Manuals to get back to your starter city if you set your HP somewhere along the way.

My guess is nothing short of completely scratching the current class, income, DPS and risk/reward systems and pretty much starting from scratch with a heavily personal-based story driven MMO will do it.

SW:ToR looks like it has some of the needed elements (particularly the story driven part) but falls into the same rut in other areas.
You don't understand how right you are. Logic is the plague to every mmo.

Once the sublime fades, every mmo inevitably manifests itself to complete boredom because your next upgrade is written in stone and you just need to clear the leaves to see it. The process of getting that upgrade is tedious and the joyful moment of obtaining it is short lived. Then what is the reason for even participating in something so predicable? The people. If you don't enjoy playing with the people, why bother playing at all?

Wow, that was a necro bump.

Can't believe I missed this the first go round, it's definitely a contender for Thread of the Year.
