It's basically Escha's "voidwatch"
Grab a key item, go to a ???, pop some gimmicky NM, hopefully kill it, repeat. You have temp items to help you out (although they are "normal" temp items earned through normal zone activities and not temps that you get specifically from the NM fight) and although you don't have atmacites, you do have whatever vorseals you've earned, which are more or less intended to serve the same sort of purpose.
You're able to use trusts for it, but unlike voidwatch you still require at least 3 human players to participate, like Incursion.
If you're asking why it has that oddball name, I don't even know. Honestly, I'm not sure it's even mentioned anywhere in the game itself; we've only seen it in these update notes/previews.

In addition, some of the items dropped by the NMs are upgradable using eschalixirs, which are possibly dropped by any mob in Escha. Very similar to the airlixir system in delve. Some of the NMs also drop the abjurations for the new cursed gear, and some other high grade gear. First-time kills of NMs will normally get you a new vorseal.
While Fynlar is right that it is not mentioned much by characters in the game, Geas Fete seems to be the end-game of Escha... making it the end-game of the end-game? But hey, no NPCs really mentioned the gods in sky or jailers in sea, they all just seems to hang out quietly until a bunch of adventurers show up.
