#1 Jan 03 2004 at 2:44 PM Rating: Default
ok, i just got my SM to 50 and am going to get him SC'd armor. I've alrdy bought the silksteel padded armor, which is the best crafted cloth, and i need help making a template for the SC'er. My problem is, i dont no wat a template is, or how to make one, so if u could help me understand wat one is, or even maybe leave an example i would greatly appreciate it.

Since no-one has replied I will assist you.

By having your armor spellcrafted you are attempting to maximize your characters stats/resists/hits/pwr/skills - since you are a SM. At lvl 50 you have (assuming no items that take you over cap) the following caps:

1. stats - +75 (piety/con/dex - there are others but since you are a SM they won't matter)
2. resists - +26% (crush/thrust/cold/heat/spirit/body/matter/energy/slash)
3. hits - +200
4. power - +26
5. skills - +11 (supp/summ/dark)

The objective again is to maximize these values using your armor/jewels/weapon.

You need a spellcrafting calculator. I would recommend Kort's Spellcrafting Calculator.

I'm an SC'er and let me provide some advice

1)Let an SC'er build your template for you. Some will charge you for that, some won't. It's worth paying if you have to because most people mess it up.

2)Find all the jewelry/accessories that you can to maximize your Dexterity, Piety, and your skills.

3)Steer clear of asking for +Power on your armor. It is very expensive (imbue point wise) and since you only get +26 at lvl 50, it's hardly worth it.

4)Be selective about your resists. Think about what resists you REALLY need. Like +power, +resist gets VERY high imbue point costs as you increase from 3 to 5 to 7 to 9. For a caster, I generally recommend Energy and Spirit (mezzes) and Thrust (Stealthers) resists maxed and whatever else you routinely run into.

5)If you've got 99+ quality armor, think about having the SC'er overcharge (OC) the items. You can reliably get +4 OC on 99's and +5 on 100% (MP) items. Be warned, though, that this can be VERY expensive if you have gems that are fairly high level.
